things are cruisin along over at my friend's place.

all the babies have shown their bits and pieces.

11 girls - i'll post a list of their names next time around.

3 keeper boys - 8MH, BtB, OGer 99

here's a group shot of the gals:

and here's the big momma. 7 feet tall! she's dropping leaves and fatting her buds. looks like she's gonna go till mid october at least. or at least the top of the plant will take till then. the bottom branches are already on the frosty stage of life!

okay quick update - no pictures this time sorry! next update i'll post up lots of harvest shots :D

so last night i chopped the big momma widow in anticipation of today's rain storm.

mad called it. lost about 10-20% of the buds to botrytis. we had an unusually foggy autumn and it was a pain in the ass. i was expecting it tho, so i'm not too bummed.

also had a little corp of caterpillars chewin away at come bud stems. a few tops were lost to that, but the healthy ones went into the hash pile, so it's not a total waste. maybe lost 3-5% from those little stoney masticators.

the bottom-most branches had some mite activity. they went into the hash pile. i'd say 5-10%. i'm not bummed becasue the mites didn't travel up any higher than that.

all in all i got around 75% of the buds harvested and hanging. they are awesome, thick, greasy nug clouds. the smoke should be excellent. i'm expecting to top a half pound after dry and cure.

not too shabby for my first outdoor attempt!

here's the plant right before i harvested. the leaves are droopy cause we haven't watered it in like two weeks (to help reduce mold).

Looking great heady. :) That was a beauty of a plant. Even if you get 75% back off of that you're still doing great. Nice nug shots. I think that trim level looks fine for the frost i'm seeing :D

Nice Show. im of the opinion though that your not watering for 2 weeks may have been what led to the mold. the plant was dry and used up the leaves faster which caused them to limp and die on the stem which led to the mold with the weather you were having. had you kept watering the leaves would have stayed on longer before dying and not attracted mold.

but even still FUCKING AWESOME!@!!! i wish i could go outside.

hey everyone!

thanks for the love! the buds are in jars curing up at around 60% rh.

I haven't weighed them yet but I got 4 half-gallon mason jars full, which should net me roughly a half pound (~2 oz per).

stihg- there were some complicating factors: my buddy was obsessed with foliating, and he didn't quit it during swell like I asked him to. also I was expecting a much drier autumn and instead it's been two months of 70%+ humidity.

I got the idea to back off watering from mandala's grow guide I think. do you think it was really a major cause considering all the contributing factors?

ps I also have discovered the most beautifully stinky 8mh pheno in the little seed run I did. I've got her trying to reveg in my cab right now. I just chopped her down to the last node, gave her some nettle fpe and stuck her under 16hr light. any suggestions for reveg success?

your friends defoliation might have helped if he didn't get the whole leaf stem. weaker plants usually succumb to attack first. if the plant was not watered in 2 weeks which for a plant that size must have seemed like forever yeah the weakened state probably led to the mold more so than the other factors, but its a straw breaking the camels back type of thing. that was the final straw.

like they said water the soil well once and leave it till it is dry, bone dry. 24 hr light works very well for reveg.

got some clones/technically reveg since i always take my clones after they sex and they love it in there under the 24/7 light still flowering but also still growing reveg leaves with the long single fingers.

hey guys, i've got a nice little update on the late season little plants i had out here.

i harvested 6 in total. first one was at least a month earlier than the others. a gorgeous 8MH lady that smelled so good i thought she must be making pheromones!

unfortunately i totally newb failed on the reveg, and lost her! i've still got a few more beans to pop, but that was definitely the keeper pheno. at least i got to smoke a few grams of her!

then a few weeks ago we chopped the remaining 5 plants. my buddy had lost most of the name tags, but luckily not the one on my favorite plant, dieselrella #4. here she is a few weeks before i chopped her:

unfortunately we had a couple really dry weeks right after we chopped, but the smoke is still delicious and everything smells great, despite being bone dry. not the ideal cure, but a testament to the potential of some of the genetics i've got my hands on :D

here's the dieselrella #4:

here's a nug from each of the other plants. one of them is a diff pheno of dieselrella (#3) and one of them is OGer 99, but the rest lost their tags :comfort:

does anyone recognize this beauty? she lost her tag, but the smoke was great!

PS -- these were all grown from seed in recycled soil with only water! :plant grow:

So glad to see you again! I was just thinkin', I need to PM you and pick your brain a little.. But that thought ended with, "I wonder how that dude's patio thing ended up?"

All told, what did ye olde patio(e) end up yielding?

:respect:

thanks SH!

the total yield for the big monster widow was half a pound and change! that's AFTER a pretty huge loss to bud rot.

the smoke is GREAT! excellent potency, with legs! keeps me high for 4+ hours. the cure is starting to hit its perfection, the color, smell, and flavor are all excellent.

i am EXTREMELY pleased with this grow! considering all i bought was the 45 gal container! filled it with recycled soil, gave it a dose or two of ACT, a dose of FPE here and there, and now my friend and i each have a QP of gorgeous meds that cost next to nothing!

here's a decent macro i snapped just now :D
