YOUR WORST/DISAPOINTED/OVERATED STRAIN(S)

J

Junkhead

This thread is great keep it up fellas.

Some stuff that sucked:

Purple Skunk. Grew out 10, all females hermied massively other plants in the room were just fine. I have grown some other seedsman stuff that was great, which i think were seeds from SamS...

Nirvana: Papaya. Yellow pack from seed bou in 09, no germ

blueberry timewarp. I got a whole pack of this free with my order and ended up popping all 10. Not terrible just average lemon smelling weed with mediocre potency. Now the timewarp/skunk I ran outside from them was fucking fantastic, the jar that always goes first.

Nirvana: Bubblicious. Weed tasted like I rolled it in dirt before packing the bowl.

I'll try and remember more.

Blueberry Gum was disappointing but I knew it wasnt going to be a winner from a friends experience with it. Grew it anyway. Very plain bland floral taste to it. No blueberry or bubblegum whatsoever in the cured product. Fast finisher though.

I've personally had bad experiences with Nebula from Paradise seeds. The bud was incredibly bland and hermied. Never again. They've got other great strains though I must admit! I'd love to try Sensi Star.

Paradise's new Sensi Star falls way short of the old classic I loved.

Most of the purple kush cuts Ive tried are weak as shit, there has been one or two exceptions though.

Strawberry Cough in seed form is crap...except the s1's that CBF made years back that he called Strawberry Cream or Screme.

theres more, but thats it for now.

this is a great list and a great way to do some research without looking to hard. Its gotta be tough if you only get your info from high times or something like that...according to them, EVERYTHING is a keeper lol.

take care and stay safe

Am I imagining it or did someone list blue dream here further back? got to be kidding, its almost perfect. that taste is so good, and the smell...I wish I could let my place just reek of it..

I'm tired of all the Sour D knock offs. I came across real real diesel in 07 that blew my mind, everything about it overpowering. It had a few seeds, they turned out SD with a slight peanut butter scent to them that all SD I've tried since lacked. It seems that peanut buttery note was a marker of the real deal. If that wasn't the real deal then I guess the real deal is weaker. Haven't had it since, everything else has been watery sour tasting mimicry.
I'm also sick of skunk washouts, weak skunk that should have been pulled and never bred. Why take the weakest and make it weaker. Only the hardest hitting well rounded top skunks are close to worth it for me. Out of the countless types, never knowing their names, only 3 distinct ones actually worked for me. I'm guessing its the 3 of the most notoriously strong skunks whoever that is.

I'm surprised to see BB bluecheese here, both BB and barney were really good all 4 times I ran them..dank musky floral, potent, hardy growing
Same with Ak47 (I only smoked it, but well known its easy to grow). The woody one hitter quitter AK47 I had about 5 yrs ago was excellent backed up its reputation. You always hear ak47 is not the same as it used to be... hope that's not completely true.

simon's ak-47 got 3rd in the 2011 cup this year and its the same as it was in 2004

blue dream; notice how the seedbank strain is always blamed, never the grower at fault nor the knockoff seedbank they bought the seeds from. noticed alot of really great strains get the thumbs down on here by wannabie growers.

put blue dream in the search bar for the thread = 4 hits

Greenhouse seeds are fucking scam artists though. That said they've got one good strain, super lemon haze, although I'm not sure if it's still as good as it used to be. I hope it is because I just got a few SLH freebies and don't want them to waste space.

What cracks me up is when they sell strains like 'exodus cheese', the cowboys.

yeah we all know about greenhouse, i can say the lemon skunk isnt that bad, i liked it, the SLH ive not tried but plenty like that one too..but yeah takes more than 2 decent out of 10+ from a breeder in my eyes..never again will they get a dollar from me.

each to their own though, some people like plants that hermy easy and produce..well plants that i guess some people may like :)

Not true.

What other strains of theirs have you tried ?

I have never seen anybody post any thought or theory that SLH has changed at all. I bought and smoked some at the HTCC and it was as fantastic as ever.

GHS have the Exodus Cheese cut and are the first bank to manage to reverse it, so now sell "Exodus Cheese" several grows on here, all reporting very nice harvests.

I have hundreds of my own seeds sitting around, only bought 6 packs of seed last year, all 6 were GHS IIRC. Lemon Skunk, Trainwreck and Bubba Kush are really great S1's, highly recommended.

glad you get some pleasure out of ghs :)
and yeah this thread is not for bashing breeders so we will leave it at that.

one thing i do have to point out, the bubba kush GHS sell is nothing at all related to the pre98 or katsu bubba, read the makeup of it, its bubblegum x kush, felt i had to point this out as alot of people look for bubba kush S1s or BXs, i know i would be pissed if i bought that expecting one of the real bubbas

Hi Mrgreenharvest,

FWIW, I think the GHS Blurb is wrong, zero smell of any Bubblegum in 5 packs to date, but a lot of very funky coffee/chocolatey plants that sound very like all the reports of the original pre 98 BK. IMO it is an S1 of the pre98 BK, great plants either way, the only thing I bought 2 years running. Several other highly rated strains, a few in little special limited edition glass jars, are still gathering dust. It really is good shit IMO.

I've grown their White Widow, White Rhino and Church. All hermied to fuck and some didn't even flower at all. They do have some good strains - I'm not completely biased. Like I said, their SLH is awesome, although the breeding was outsourced since both Franco and Arjan are not breeders themselves (especially not Arjan). Others have consistently complained about hermies etc. so much that I really doubt it's just competitors trolling.

I most certainly didn't mean their SLH has changed, I said I just hope it hasn't, because even with good breeders you'll find a lot of the strains change because the parents are lost or whatever. It's even happend with Blueberry. I have bought some more SLH seeds myself just today so I'm not completely against the company. I just hate the way they sell inferior strains amongst the gems.

Also the way Arjan (the king who sells bobble heads for $5000 a pop to silly customers) introduced feminized seed into areas where landrace strains are grown by farmers, thus risking the existence of these strains forever, is despicable. I don't care who does it, stuff like that is not on and he really should know better.

By the way, I've had a freebie from them, Super Silver Haze. I was wondering if it's any good? It was free and is a single seed but I really don't want to waste space on it if it's going to be a hermaphrodite or a poor rip off hack. Is it genuine? Will it be worth growing? I'd love to grow Super Silver Haze but worry with their track record. So, yay or nay?

So, did they Hermie, or just not flower ? Photos please. Or...

Read up about Arjan and Franco rather than talk such rubbish. Arjan was at it 20+ years ago, collecting worldwide, Franco is a lovely guy with a massive passion for his work.

Most of the complaints do seem to come from one direction in particular, the competitor who really did loose his mother plants, who is now selling Hermi polyhybrids while slagging off the opposition for the same.

Read Chimera's thread about his travels in Morocco to find out more about the influence of new genetics on Landrace strains. Then re read your post.

Here's a photo of the beginning stages of a church plant starting to hermie. I don't have any more photos of the actual bananas because the camera was borrowed at that point but the plant was definitely a lady-boy. I thought I made it clear, some of the plants from some strains hermied and some plants just didn't even flower. I don't know why you're so intent on trying to catch me out. The beans were bad, I don't know why that's so hard to accept when if you just type in a search of Greenhouse seeds and hermie into Googlel you'll see there are so many complaints it goes beyond just a competitor saboteur. I've had the experience myself so I know it to be real and not some unsubstantiated claim.

The fact of the matter is Scot Blakey took all the best seminal strains with him.

I'll ask you this, why would GHS need to buy cannabis cups? You do know that it's public knowledge that he was disqualified from the High Times Cannabis Cup one year for buying votes?

The thing is there's probably no point in arguing with people like you because it doesn't matter what I say.
