Bigger inline fan or dehumidifier?

Well, im having humidity issues in my grow tent. I currently have a 6" inline fan pulling through a scrubber, and cooling my reflector. My rh is getting 60-70%, and noticed some PM last week. Im contemplating on purchasing a dehumidifier, but wondered if just buying an 8" inline fan would do the trick. My tent is 55" x 55" x 84" with a 6" 400cfm fan pulling through a 6" x 24" 550 CFM Phresh filter. What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ruger

Get the dehumidifier. I got pm a few rounds back in my grow tent, and I was using an 8" Elicent at full blast at the time. After cleaning and scrapping everything, I now religiously use a either a dehumidifier during the more humid months, or several DampRid Buckets during the less humid months.

How do you deal with the heat from the dehumidifier?

No prob Ruger, glad to see you bit the bullet an picked one up.

Evl- Well, for the months that I need to run the Dehumidifier, which are coincidentally the cooler months of the year, it doesn't seem to really make a difference. As a note though, I am running it in the lung room which the tent sits in and draws from. And being that the room is smaller, the 8" fan seems to draw the air out of the room quick enough anyways so that heat buildup is not really a factor in the lung room. While this is obviously not the most efficient setup, being that the unit does not sit in the tent, it does the job for me and keeps the RH where it needs to be.

Also, I use a smaller dehumidifier (Ideal Air 50), which only uses roughly 600w of power, so fif you plan on running one which pulls more than that you will need to adjust for the increased heat buildup. Ymmw.

Another idea to battle the PM is to increase the air movement inside the tent. You can do this cheaply by adding a couple small(4-6", bought at walmart) fans to the tent.

If your RH is too high, then all the air movement will still be in vain. I had 2 x 16" oscillating fans at full blast going on in my tent at the time of the pm outbreak. If you are low on a budget, then look into the DampRid Buckets I mentioned.

And no prob Evl, hope it helps:)
