A gun, which can only be fired by only one person.

I know biometric locks exist.

Why not a gun that is programmed to be fired by only one person.

unless it is the owner's palm wrapped around the handle, the trigger won't release.

This would really cut down if not end, kids accidentally shooting themselves.

Does a gun like this exist?

I don't think people with kids could afford it. And tragic potential is always waiting. Teach kids proper gun handling, just like sex ed and nutrition.

But a gun like that would be nice.

I don't think the gun nuts who buy and sell for profit would make as much money. They're the noisiest and most belligerent in the conversation. I'd bet my bank account we have the technology. I wouldn't be surprised if the gun lobby fights tooth and nail against any considerations.

But as for safety, it sounds considerable. Might be a bit expensive for one gun/ one owner.

EPROM - erasable, programmable, read-only memory chips might render single ownership transferable - but might also be exploitable.

I'd hate to be charged for a crime where my gun not only says it was involved, the potential chip fraudster says I pulled the trigger.

there was a european movie about a job interview that had this, the security guard for the interview room had a gun that would only fire if it was HIS finger pulling the trigger, can not recall the name of the movie right now

YES........how do i know? i am an inventor, not of this product but found it while doing a prior art search @ USPTO.

the basis was to prevent an officers gun being used against them, using a proximity safety. the gun will only fire IF held by the officer.

EDIT: i have added some extra features that warrants a new patent but that project is way on the back burner.

one more mechanical feature that could fail when your life depends on the weapon. No thank you. Teach your kids gun safety young, and let them handle guns whenever they ask. This way you can teach them safety and eleminate their curiosity. Any gun that is not being carried on your person should be in a safe. If you need a nightstand gun and have kids, they make a small single handgun safe that springs open with 4 digit pin. Cops need to hang on to their guns, or carry a backup.

I promise you any parent who has had a kid kill themself with their gun...or maybe a family was murdered and then kid killed themself ect....would not agree with you on this one..

Having a fail safe to an item that can potentially end your life as well as many around is never a bad idea.

Teaching gun safety is a no brainer...making sure no accidents EVER happen is also a no brainer.

UN treaties will crush the NRAs effectiveness in protecting 2nd amendment.
Whorebama, Clinton, Holder, and many of the left leaning congress, senate, judiciary, and pansy mutherphunkers who play their patty-cake deception, are drafting and conspiring to implement world wide gun control.

no matter what whorebama claims to the contrary.

oooh noooo, not a neg rep.

was just answering the OP's question.

i grew up with guns and at an early age was taught gun safety so i agree that kids should be taught about guns but remember, guns dont kill........irresponsable people kill.

keep on neg reppin internet coward........articulate your disagreement w/o using the neg rep option.

peace and go play russian roulette.

Aren't the safety "features" the result of law suit settlements? Not gov. regs. All the labels on ladders are. Keep things real tric not make believe, ok? And the name calling, it doesn't become you or help your believes.

But more to the point, I've seen on th tv them making a gun as described for cops and they had to wear a ring to fire the weapon.
