Another seed germination question. Urgent response needed.

I put an NL auto seed in a shot glass full of room temp water overnight and covered it with a bowl. Then this morning the seed was still floating so I stirred the shot glass with my finger and it sunk to the bottom. I immediatly poured the contents of the shot glass including the seed into a paper towel on a small plate, folded the paper towel over and covered it again with the bowl. Twelve hours later I checked for the 3rd time and there is the beginnings of a hint of splitting at one end and there is some white visible. It is at the knot end.
How much longer should I be looking to leave it in the paper towel before planting in a party cup?
This is the first seed I've ever germinated. Will post some pics of the seed when I have finished uploading.

Some people would drop it in the cup now.. some would wait for a little more tail..1 seed I would wait.. if it was 1 of 10 I would plant it with the rest...good luck and congrats!!!

you can plant the seed as soon as you see the taproot shooting out. so basically you can plant the seed in the party cup now. What kind of medium are you using in the party cup? Soil, hydro ?

Have you been pre-watering the soil in the party cup? if not do it a few times today with small amounts of water and mix up the soil in the cup.

Just so you know, there is not only one way. Many methods are successful. Anyone who says this way only, has only picked that out as most successful of the ways they know. Peace GS

Paper towels have no magic powers of germination. Warm, moist media will neither freeze nor dehydrate your seed. Had he started in the party cup, he'd have a plant by now instead of a split seed and wondering about his next move. Can you dig a hole with a hammer or drive a nail with a shovel? Sure. But either job will go better if you use the tool the way it was intended.

Have planted the seed in pre watered soil about 1/8-1/4 inch down and put it in a warm moist environment. (temp 29-30 degrees C/RH 55-70%)
There will be variable levels of light but I'm guessing that does not matter at this stage.
:thank you:
