Callin all cfl,floro & pll warriorz to the table..

First off let me say what's up to tha Micro Crew pumpin out the nice collie as well as the big boys but on a micro level. I have a few nice grows under my belt but have much to learn.
Something told me to go to the local thrift store today to see what I could find grow..(some of the best stuff for us DIY Katz) & I hit that break that all of us cab builders wait or hope for. I found the daddy cabs of my current collection for $5, it's basically already pre-fabbed for me(pic comming soon..)

Ok, cab demensions are 22Lx21Wx19H(with a additional 3-4" under the floor of the cab if I need more height).

First cab I made was 12"deep,next 15"deep(current mini fridge) now21"deep...YesS & a almost perfect square.!!

I have been Checkin in from time to time on some amazing farmerz that are making some very efficient mini cabs pay them back gpw.

I'm callin all the Guru'z to tha table first... "blynx(clf master mind),"d.r green(tha 1 & only),"Anti(guru#1), Scrubninja(ninja of farmin) & all tha others guru greenthumbz that have put it down Super efficient on IC.. No offence others. I have seen these guyz work & read their threads & luv their style cabs with creativity.

What I'm looking for is what would you do with the given space I have to work with ? All my cabs are "ngb" setUp'z & I like that style but I'm open to suggestions.

*1.what lights to run(vertical or horizontal)
*2.cuts in cab for venting
*note: I have a 3-4" gap under the floor bottom for venting.
*3.fans for exhaust
*4.pot sizes, e.t.c.

I'm a "Tlo farmer" so all my magic is in my soilmix I amend.

I think this will be a knarly build if I can get some genuine help along the way from tha katz that know how to make a mini hit right so please bring Gud Vibez to the table if ya pullin up a chair and Hang-on....

Ok !, since I have all these lookers and no one wants to pull up a chair. Being a amateur I will utilize my skills and pull together some tricks and ideas with my own twist. Like all of us "micro herb farmerz" we are limited to space, so I wanted to give this cab my all but yet make it very efficient and keep $$ in my pocket instead of tha local electric companyz handz.

Im a honest person just trying to make a living like everyone else without spending all this redicious amount of money on "GroW" & still produce some Quality head stash.
Yes I know there are those out there that do it Showtyme style & you need growguls to walk in the room, but that's not me.

I'm content with what has started out as a thrift store find for $5 into a holy mini grail of moms and babiez. My objective is to have a micro style perpetual cab set up just for the preparation of that magic we call 12/12.
I also have two mini fridges complete in 12/12 as we speak, a 150w hps fridge & a killer 2nd fridge with 6 overdriven t8 floros(scrog.) Those will be in my next thread as I get cozy here at the IC.
My approach at farmin this lovely med is organic and I have learned so much in the past few years.. From books, trial & error, friends, fam e.c.t.
I tell you what, IC has a melting pot of geniuses with all different types of approach to grow, but I too am a Brn Dirt Warrior But I think I might try my moms in coco. I have a back stock of nutes and I wanna take advantage of some of my treasures
before they expire.
Mother plant line is on my to do list for some Super Bonsai Moms to pump out my next army to the magic flower makin box.

This t5 4 lamp H.O. Fits like a glove on my convertible cab, I'm also thinking about building a cfl panel with about 6 more sockets for light to replace the t5 for flowering.. Which one should I run with ?

Ok, y'all so I decided to run this new cab on into flower. Sog Prepetual is my choice, so anybody that's running micro Prepetual wanna share some experience or put up some pics, feel free.
All I'm asking is the light source is one of tha 3 I named or in combination. Middle pic is all my micros I'm running in my garage. Next to the fridge is a dry house.


The last pic you see in this post is my overdriven floro mini fridge. 6 18w t8'z overdriven to 32w a piece with 2 ballasts that supposed to power 4 4ft t8'z.. This fridge is drippen in trich and I'm on wk 5 with these 2 plants.

I have just posted some ruff skelton picz in my album under mom & cutz. Like I said this is just my floor plans of how everything will be looking when complete. The area where the cfl'z are is where I nEed opinion. Also with the venting Ideas. I have already thought of a few different configurations but I need to huddle up with the ganja micro gurus.

If I'm understanding you correctly, the purpose of this cab is strictly for vegging mom's and rooted clones and possibly babies from seeds?

Are you going to root cuts in this cab too?

My cab is a 3x3 space with about 800w of CFL arranged over it. I use a design I call "spiders" which are single gang 5 hole round electrical boxes connected to 4 weather resistant lamp holders. The box allows the entire unit to be self contained, and affords the lights a place to screw into. Simply hook the wires up to a plug and a power strip. With this configuration, I can easily (and adjustably) manage up to 92w per square foot (6400 lumens per spider) with cheapie 23w CFLs. My array has a mix of 5000k / 3500k / 2700k bulbs, with several additional 23w red CFLs mixed in as well. The red doesn't put out much light, but I feel it better pumps up the red spectrum. I've found that 50w per sqft will be very effective for veg, 75watts+ per sqft (100w preferred) for flower.

Cooling is provided by a box fan, on low. In veg, I use an 8 inch desk fan on med. The screens are tomato cages, cut in half. The lower half I use for training in veg, upper half with a screen for flower.

Hey man whack some lights in this thing and get the show on the road If you need no smell, try the rubbermaid sitting on top of the cupboard, which houses the huge efficient carbon filter and fans, ala my old pll cupboard. If you need stealth, only push into the filter, keeps things pretty quiet.

This gives you more room inside, doesn't look immediately suspicious, and works pretty damn not bad. Good luck

My main intention is to hold 4-6 moms in the middle 2' of cab space & all around the middle, clones,seed, veg...

The good thing is my cab is a convertible, I could switch out air cooled hoods on top. I could sit a air cooled 400 or 300w hps setup ontop of the cab to flower. With plexy no heat transfer w/ nice fan to cool.

I could just pull the shelf out to flower. I'm tying to run a nice powerful bathroom filter box set up so Crew, gimme some input on venting.

What would be better, to run 34w pl-l'z in place of the cfl'z horizontal or stay with what I have

Guess I'll throw in my 2cents as a newcomer. I'm using a 120cfm bathroom fan in top of my 1.3sqft with 5 1.5inch holes drilled in bottom with the whole pvc 90 deg bend rigged up in my 3" space below cab with all sides sealed except one. running 180w cfl and have never broken 80deg. And for my small space I feel that it may almost be to much circulation but haven't seen any windburn as of yet (4 weeks total use fan running 24/7) but for a space that size id be willing to say a bathfan of this sort would be perfect, was very easy to light seal and have seen 2 carbon scrubbers on icmag that would work fine with it. As far as lighting im CFL all the way as I'm kinda a sketch about grow shops so home de pot all the way. with CFL's i have read in one of ed rosenthal?? books that CFL bulbs produce more light when hung vertically. I use power strips to mount lights so I can move them if i ever wanted small adujstments sorry for any spelling shiz I might have messed up but i dun care right this very sec!

Thanks qsbOy. Right on point with info. I luv cfl'z bro. For 1. Super effiecent, 2. You could buy spirals @ any store & 3. If placed right, can grow quality solid meds just like a h.i.d.
I have experience with cfl'z,floros & h.i.d. Right now I'm running a few cabs with each,(check my photo'z).. Tha floro fridge is overdriven & the hps is a 150watter.
This mom/clone factory is already housing a 2ft t5 h.o. So now I'm just deciding on if I wanna run vert cfl'z next to tha t5 or pl-l'z. I have never dabbled with pl-l'z, but I hear they are overdriven t5'z, so that might be fun.
I also have the option to flower in this cab too so I can't wait to test this micro out.

I would go with cfl personally. For the reasons you pointed out, but also the lower wattages of pll don't put out as much light per watt as the larger sizes like 55w. I think when you get to 34w pll, it's not too much difference in efficiency to a 23w cfl. All things considered, cfls are certainly great at vegging anyway.

I remember comparing a 23w cfl to a 24w pll & the cfl was brighter, i guess because its all coiled up in a tiny space. Thing is, the 23w was even noticeably brighter to the eye than a 55w pll too! So if you can cram them in and keep em cool, cfl is fine.

Since, last speaking to you I have came up with a combo that I think will be nice even for flower. Also with this cab, I was thinking of going straight to 12/12 Dr Budd Style.
I have a few seedz in the making right now BluBerry Blast(F) X Platinum Og(M) that I think I will call "Platinum Blu" that I might try out in this fresh system.
Also I'm looking for a nice mom to start a prefectural of my cross. I have a few other crosses in my 150w fridge that tha Ic will see in future growz. Check me out in a few & I'll have some new updates up bro.
