i have a 150 hps & 106 watts of cfls in a cab that is 22" wide 16"deep and 53" tall. for ventilation i have 165 cfm inline fan hooked up to my scrubber with four 2" holes as intake. the set up is in a garage, temps are getting low during the night and im having trouble keepin my cab warm.. at night the temps in the cab are about 71deg(lights on), garage is around 50.. . i have the fan on a speed controller on the slowest setting and 2 of the 4 intakes closed to keep the heat up. any one have any suggestonson keeping the temp up??

what bout this? http://www.amazon.com/Terra-Ceramic-Heater-Watts-Volts/dp/B0002DIAXO

any one try one before? im trying to keep it simple...

Depending on how good your air is flowing, that heater might not work as the heat will be sucked out. You might want to try heating up your garage instead since your intake is taking in air from the garage

the air flow is good, but i think the added heat would stay in the cab., just not sure tho. the garage my cab is in has an uninsulated ceiling and i park vehicles in there so its hard to keep it warm in there. any heat leaves when garage door is opened.. . just looking for ideas on keeping the inside of my cab warm. i do have a space heater in the garage but it struggles to keep it warm, and im concerned bout it startin a fire..

where are all the cab growers at?? help a brother out...

You need a temperature controller on the fan, my good man. This way the fan kicks in based upon temperature...

Yup, what he said. That way your fan will only turn on when the temperature rises beyond your set point, and turn off when it is back down to normal

Yeah I use seedling heat mats for the girls. Keeps soil mix warm, 68-72F, ambient mid 50's. I micro grow in a non climate controlled storage area, good results.

I keep the fan 24/7 on a speed control dialed down, no smell.

You need to build a small room inside the garage and keep that warm. Just big enough for the cab and some space for you to move around would be decent and a lot easier to heat than the whole garage.

glory thanx for the input.. the temps in ur soil or grow box are 68-72F? my ambient is about 50ish as well, going to get colder though. maybe ill pick me up some heat mats this weekend

mafia..i wish!! building a small room is def out of the question, if i had room for that i wouldn't be growin in this small ass cab..lol.

What Mafia is saying is a room within a room. In your case, something like a washing machine or a refrigerator box. You could insulate your grow cab during the lights off, with the air buffer in the cardboard box.
Good luck with that, I'm having my own probs with it being too cold!

thanks senor.. i know what mafia meant, but buildin another room to put my small cab in is not realistic for me.. i have no room for one and also dont have the time or money.. worst case scenario i will insulate the ceiling of the garage and garage door, but im tryin to avoid that and figure a way to warm the inside of my box only..

man i need to figure this out soon.. temps are dropping fast here..

For the same money you can buy a small cheap 2 speed electric heater with adjustable temp control at any of the big box stores...or the best solution if you have to use electricity is to use more lighting in the lights on period then use a heater along with a temp controller for more precise control as mpd suggests for lights off.

is your garage attached to the house??? if so then ducting warmer air for the intake from the house is your best bet (this is what i do as my cab is in the loft.)

if you already have the fan turned down then a temp controlled fab wont help much as you need some air flowing all the time

otherwise look for pipe/tube heaters like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&...=aps&hvadid=6961343646&ref=pd_sl_3xd7fkjb9i_b

make a small box say 2ft square - or find an old box/cupboard that is a similar size and mount the heater in there. have an intake at low level into it and duct air out from a high level (heat rises) into your grow cab - ideally have this 'heating chamber' butted right up to your grow cab or so that there is little length of ducting inbetween and insulate the ducting.
now you have a box where the air will be warmer to get your intake air from.

Forkup... I have a electric space heater, but I'm worrid bout torching the house.. want to get away from using it.. also its like 900 watt, a bit expensive to operate.

Verdant.. ya its connected to the house and in its current location I could put a vent in the wall and pull air from the house. I'm in the middle of my grow season, sumthing like that might have to wait.. but honestly I think I'm guna do that when summer comes.. tryin to fight the up in down temps in the garage is a bit difficult at times. I think venting from the house could also extend my grow season..

In the mean time I think I might pick up some heat mats and one of those ceramic heaters.. if they don't work ill take them back for a refund.. lol.

Superman.. I kno the temps are not to bad but its only goin to get colder here so 71 in my cab could turn to 61 here in a few days.. do u use the mats?

Insulating the roof and doors will probably cost as much as the room. i had the same problem for a few years and i finally just took about a hundred bucks and built a 4x7 room out of cheap plywood and 2x3's to keep my tent inside.
