How do you vote?

Im not talking left or right, im talking how does it go down.

First i show them my ID, and they look me up in their book.
I sign in the book (next to an image of a previous signature).
They then give me a numbered ballot and record what number ballot i was given in the book i just signed.

It is a paper ballot with bubbles to fill in. I finsh by sticking the ballot into a machine that will either give me an 'A OKay' or a 'Rejection' spitting the ballot back out at me (if i filled in two bubbles, or only half).

My problem is the numbered ballots seem to negate the 'secret ballot' im suppose to have.

I'll happily debate ANYONE over my voting choices, but i still think this is total bullshit.

We use to have the 'poke though'/'hanging chad' type. But after Fl 2000, we got this new shit.

Anybody have a true 'secret ballot'?

Would love to know from some internationals how they get to vote.

Well this is some bullshit right here.....

Don't even know anymore, I've been voting through the mail with an Absentee ballot for about 5 years now. I got real tired of the dog & pony show at the polls and this is an easy way to vote, just have to educate myself on the issues and mail my ballot before election day.

all diebold machines where I vote, so...

however we just passed a voter initiative to have voter ID, so now we are even more convinced that out vote actually matters. (/sarcasm)

The diebold machines have been proven in court that they can be hacked to sway the votes however the hacker wants them to in a matter of seconds, but yet they voting machines are still everywhere. Oh, not that it matters but Diebold is owned by zionists, they are very reasonable and trustworthy people.

Individual votes don't matter anyways, the electorial college decides who the president is. Only the politicians get to vote for the president.

i go in the booth and pretend it's a fancy restroom.

i like to piss on the ballot, and wipe my ass w/ it if necessary.

No one else gets a numbered ballot where they record which numbered ballot you voted on?

what happens when i show up is

I tell the old lady my name, she then looks it up in a paper book of registered voters, once she finds my name I have to sign beside it, then she sends me to this other woman at the end of the table who gives me a "republican" voting machine card so I can go to the machine and only have the option of republican politicians.

From what I can tell, that voting card is just a universal "republican" or "democrat" card. I don't think it has any personal info about me on there.

I sounds like for you there is a record of who votes for who somewhere, but the politicians probably deny it exists after giving it a once over.

I live in a mail in state. The elections people mail my ballot and I fill it out and mail it back. The whole state does it. Mail in voting is very easy and only take a minute.

I don't know about anyone else, but I participate in ALL elections, not just the presidentials. My sphere of influence may be small, but it has an impact locally.

Has anyone here ever run for a seat? How about witnessing a count?

Here in the UK....

Every registered voter gets a polling card mailed to them. When you go to the polling station (a local infants school/kindergarten for me), you show this card (or recognised ID if you lost or didn't get a card). They tick you off a list of all registered voters for the station, and give you a voting slip. Still pencil on paper, big "X" on your candidate(s). All in a little private booth. Fold up the slip, and stick it in the box. Done.

Only ever seen an exit pollster once, and I never talk to them.

In over 25 years of voting (I always vote, local, national, european etc, everything), I have yet to back a winning candidate.....

We use computers here in Harris County, Texas. It's all a scam but at least they let us live the illusion that we have a say in our government. I have lived here 18 years and every single election is tinged with massive voter fraud. The people in power can't seem to help themselves, they have to lie and cheat and stuff the ballot box. We vote kids, illegals, felons and the dead. Sometimes two or three times. It is really sick to watch. I vote in the elections and then hope for the best.

This was a 'primary ballot'. They are generally used in the 'spring elections' and not a Nov elections, and here they hand you the a ballot from the party youve registered with before, but you can ask for the others.

Ive done just this, for example, in 2000 i voted in the rep primary, 2004 i voted in the dem primary, (although the nomination was 'wrapped up' before it got to my state). Im pretty sure i had to register with the other party to get the ballot. (They they send me junk mail for four years). There was also an 'independent' ballot that did not have the primary candidates (just the tax levies, amendments, etc).

Its a hassle, but i you gotta do what you gotta do. I dont trust the write ins, as i dont think they are counted here unless the election is REALLY close.

(I can proudly say ive voted against GWB 3X on a national ballot.)

I sit at home with a open beer and wait for them to count the votes they they cast (whoever "they" really are). You know, the real ones that matter. Not the fake ones "regular people" do that just go in the trash once voting is over :)

We enter the room and tell an old lady our name. She sends us down the line where another old lady looks up our name from the voter rolls. We are then given a ballot. (Everyone gets the same one.) We proceed to the little curtained desk and make our choices. There is an oval dot to fill out for each race, including straight party voting for the entire ballot. The ballot is fed into a machine that tallies the results.

I've voted in every election since 1980, but that run may have come to an end. I'm 'bout ready to opt out and quit paying attention to that kind of shit.
