Shot gun shell costs much less. And a wild bird tastes so much better :)

Around here, you could catch one by hand and save the buck for later. They won't even move when you honk at them in your car. They're kind of mean looking, so I'd wear some gloves. They're always around, a very suburban animal. I bet they'd still peck your eyes out though.

Sadly my ship is sinking, chronic pain is a real 'pain'. Oh well, at least it's thanksgiving and we've got a big meal with family happening.

Happy thanksgiving ICMag brethren!

Unfortunately I am glad to hear others are not doing so well. Sometimes you think it is just you, and you feel like you have done something wrong. You keep working at it, and working at it, and what use to come is only about half as much now. Shit is fucked up. It is only going to get worse. I am expanding my vegetable garden in the spring. One lees thing to worry about.

I ain't complaining.
All my stuff is paid for, my Harley gets 50+ mpg. and if I can grow weed in my closet, I can grow food in my back yard as long as I have a gallon of gas for a tiller. I'm too f 'ed up to do it by hand.
I also stumbled over a gallon of 99% iso in case some of my weed ain't top shelf and a strain or two end up in a dram bottle. Qwiso may not be the absolute best but it damn sure will get the job done.
If there's gonna be a full on shit-storm coming, I'm about as well prepared as someone can be without going in a bunker.

living off savings (depleting quickly), still too early for retirement, but chronically unemployable.
living with family, very nice location.
my toys are sitting idle, without scratch all those toys are doorstops.
i don't go anywhere unless necessary, i try not to waste, eat smaller meals, stay away from doctors, grow my own, etc. something i think will be of benefit in times ahead.
at least when times really get tough, it'll feel normal...sigh

Yeah, stay away from doctors if you can...lol.
I found out the hard way that expensive as hell self employment insurance actually keeps you healthy. The minute I dropped mine (never needed it really), I had 3 surgeries in 3 months.
Cash up front. Ouch.
Not one of my smartest moves.

Not working, lost my legit biz last year. My wife & I are in the midst of losing the house, & all our properties, OUCH! So; instead of rolling over to die, I went back to college to finish my degree(not holding my breath!). Hopefully, I'll find some work after all the dust settles, & see if I can get anything. Thank GOD my wife has a half-way decent job!

Bottom line...Don't ever give up, even in the face of defeat. Keep on fighting! Because if you quit, your'e already dead!

Man I live in a shitty trailer shittier than most of you guys would live in but I have a badass pole barn that keep the bills paid and I stilll get to help cure cancer patients at no cost to them. I have regulated diabetes and done so many other things. I dont have to bust my ass in a shitwhole 5 days a week and still can eat, drink, smoke as much as I want. How can I complain. The price per oz has dropped 100 bones in the last year but man it would have to do that again for me to be homeless. If that happens maybe I will start fabricating again but idont know.

I'd be way further ahead $-wise if I'd never discovered the Bay/Boo ;)

If I sold my produce I might be better off too, but I couldn't even begin to guess how one starts along that path since I don't tell anyone I live near about my hobby :dunno:

I can definately relate to the song as me and the Mrs. get by on about 26K per year between the two of us. We do have a decent home and a decent vehicle and most of the modern conveniences although not the latest and greatest. What really chaps my ass though is everytime I try to do something to conserve more so we can do a little better the cost of living goes up undoing any benefits I hoped to gain from said conservation. Like several years back I did everything I could in my home to conserve electricity to lower the electric bill. But then Bush deregulated everyting and in one year my electric rates increased by 66%.

ppl need to learn to be "self-sufficient"...that's the bottom line.

this society has made ppl into convenience whores. (i'm not excluded)

however, i do know how to live by my wits. i can and have lived w/out...w/out ANYTHING...not for a week but for a cpl years.....no phancy cell fone, no tv, no radio, no running water, no electric, no weed, no booze, at times no home, at times just a tent..... lots of pride tho... (get rid of your pride).

...and did that on several occasions....(gotta love a self-imposed hardship)

learned alot by that tho...and still fight the things i desire vs. the things i really need (i don't really need much) ...(my family, a roof, some water, a rifle, and my pooch......and a lil weed)...all i need.

good luck to everyone struggling...tuff times make tuff ppl....watch out!
