So, its been settled.... the dark residue leaves little to no taste when dabbing new hits. so cleaning is simply a personal prefrence and doesnt really effect flavor enough to notice. It however might leave a tiny dark streak in your light wax/budder o shatter.

i still need to find me something like jumps dabberdue collecter . and use that for some oral night meds. untill then a quick wip on a napkin to get that off makes me feel better. i admit to taking smaller dabbs big .2 dabs and shit fuck me up extreme head rush and then i dont get to enjoy the flavor as say a .05 hit

thanks for the replies!!!:tiphat:

I use many dabber, or pokeys, some I make out in the garage with some stainless steel rods that are easily bent, and some I get at the head shop. I use HMK's curve, and find sometimes the oil runs up the dabber, and I usually dunk it in a little glass of cold water to cool it down to load up the next hit. I clean it off if I drop it, or it gets other stuff on it, otherwise it's fine.

I agree about the glass and quartz nails and domes aren't as effective as titanium. It's quasi portable. I have taken it to events like bong-a-thon and hashbash, so I can share the love. Everyone remarks how clean the taste is on the vapor curve, and I agree. I've also used the t hing where you hook up your vial to this thing and smoke out of that, and found it destroyed the taste of the oil.

i dont see how one can taste that residue, as i see it, every dab you take is that flavor, whats left on the dabber is cooked to the same temperature as most of your last hit was, so a tiny bit more of darker oil is no different than what you will mostly inhale on your next hit. i never wipe it off, but many people think it should be wiped off for flavor, i think its just a mind thing, because of the way it looks.

UI don't wipe it off either, but I think about it this way. Terpenes are usually lower temps, so it's all burned off by then, so really all your'e hitting next time is actives... Also if the end of your hit is the shit left on the dabber, the last thing you will taste is nasty...

What I used to do is dab and not give a fuck, but now I scrape it off and it's pretty shattery goo... I take it and just dab it next time... It can effect the taste of your dab though... Looks aren't everytihng though...

what kind of dabber you use? metal ones, if you dab completely, leave almost no residue, and will not effect flavor of the next dab to any noticeable degree. glass dabbers however seem to always retain a lot of claim.

Like you said sir it all depends on the dabber/size of the dab. My dabs are .01 avg so they are TINY. The extra shit on the dabber is noticeably different... I used to not care, but now I can taste it... I use a skillet tool and you obviously know what rig I use :). I have a skillet tool I just got, and it has a flat side, and a scoop side that works well with budder.. Dabbing it flat on the skillet like it is intended to will leave residue, but doing a dab where only the pin point of the tool touches the skillet works better.

I used to have a little computer screw driver that I would get most off of, it was super tiny, with a super tiny point... Problme iwht most dabbetrs(especially glass) is it's tiny point, and then gets HUGE.

Heat rizes, and your leftovers rise up also (I've watched it before). Your dab will try to run down, and usually will, but sometimes not so much. Also with the side dabs they run up the sides, so you need to stick your entire dabber on it sometimes...

Anyway the amount left on m dabber isn't much, but I like to scrape it off anyways... Like you said though sir, if you're ding big ass dabs you shouldn't taste anything, but like I also said, you always taste the last thing going into your mouth, so if that's nasty nasty then it will taste like there... If you exhale, and then taste, you will notice a better taste, which is the dab in your lungs...

I actually took some pix of my skillet tools before, and I forgot to clean it, so it's a good pic to show.

but i swear that part of every toke will have the same amount of burntness as that left on your dabber, otherwise, it wouldnt be that color after. a little bit of each toke gets dark dabber oil in it, at the end of the dab, just before you stop dabbing, the last bit of vapor will be coming from dark oil just like that left on the pin, unless one has a dabbing style where you just drop the hit and dont touch the dabber again, but then one is guaranteed a lot of residue on the dabber.

Yup you're correct, and it's nasty!!!! :) Trying to get every little drop will cause you to get that nasty taste, so it seems like peeps dab down, go up and wipe their GOOD claim on a napkin FULL of claim... It saddens my greatly...

Jump, very nice jar dabber holder cleaners you made. I love to see folks that come up with really imaginative and useful ideas share them.
