....myself, along w/ several other internet savvy ppl have been trying to find one of these...it's a zip-tie type snap thingy.

my company needs them as a part for an item we purchase overseas and re-manufacture.

....used in sort of an upholstery thing

...not even sure of an exact name for it....i call it a "plastic zip tie snap fastener"

i've even gone into grainger and fastenall, and they've never seen such a thing.

this thing is like the length and size of a standard lighter...but size could be a bit smaller or bigger

....thanks, and lots of karma points for any help

thanks for the effort everyone...ill look into that summit 'log a bit deeper.

...that part came from china as part of cycle helmet. ....... the zip tie part goes through a styrene helmet liner, and the male snap is attached to a comfort liner that is removable so u can wash it.

the china company replaced this part w/ a press in/plug type female piece, that does not stay secure to the styrene liner (instead of unsnapping you pull the whole plug out) ...if that makes sense.

contact w/ the company is rough at best ...."strategic sports" is their name....if that is any help

That's what I do when tracing a product or service down. When I'm on the phone with a possible source and they say can't help I always ask if the can refer me to someone or a company that might help.

Try Van Waters & Rogers.
They supply the upholstery and a bunch other mfg.s industries.

Looks like you want a button yanker...lol. I'll bet it's gonna look like the backside of a caulking gun that grips the tie tongue and rachets it tight. A lot more high tek than the old fold-over metal button legs.
