Back at it. Blue Mystic/Northern Lights 150w HPS

Well after about 8 years of not growing I am back at it again. This go round will be with nirvana blue mystic and northern lights. I have grown blue mystic before, and I am hoping to find one more to the blueberry than the skunk like I did the last time. Here are the specs-

Cab- Not built yet but I am planning on an NGB style cab with separate mother and flowering chambers. I plan on doing a SOG with as many clones as I can stuff in there, flowering the clones as soon as they show roots.

Light- 150w hps for flowering and a 65w flouro for the mothers/clones.

Soil- Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Nutes- Right now all I can get my hands on is miracle grow. While not ideal I used it on my previous grows and as long as you give them a good flush they turn out alright.

Ventilation- 180cfm shaded pole blower pulling air through a carbon scrubber. There will be passive intakes near the bottom of the cabinet.


I have most of the parts/pieces. Still waiting on the blower/carbon scrubber to get here. I am going to build the box this weekend. Not set on exact dimensions yet, but I have a couple of ideas. I always use the paper towel method for germination and from there they get put into jiffy peat pellets until roots poke through the side. Same thing with my clones. Here are my babies at 6 days from popping roots. They are in half gallon containers right now.



Blue Mystic on the top and Northern Lights on the bottom. I am hoping to get a female from both strains to use as mothers.

Thanks. I still have some time before I really need to have the cab built for flowering. Right now I am vegging them in a rubbermaid tub. My internet is not consistent so I am hoping to be able to update once a week with a picture or two.

i have seen the fem BM from nirvana in actual grow, they are amazing there were a few different phenos, out of 5 seeds (feminized) 2 had a pineapple fruity smell absolutely covered in crystals with a blueish grey color, 2 where increadibly skunky with masses of crystals with a green color, and the other seemed to be plain jane nice smell and an ok amount of crystals all seemed to have an indy trait. have yet to actually taste the difference but they are a great choice in my opinion! hope to see some pics!!

The last time I grew BM, I had 2 mothers. One was more skunk and the other was mostly blueberry. The skunk one grew pretty tall, and wasn't as dense as the other. A couple of my buddies claimed that the one that was more skunk got their girlfriends all frisky when they smoked it. Came from a couple of different guys so maybe there is something to it....im not sure. The other was my favorite. Smelled like straight up blueberries if you moved the plant at all. It grew short and squat and put out a nice big main cola with a bunch of smaller side colas. Lots of crystals on her too, super frosty.

Right now they are under a 65w flouro. Still working on my cab which will house the 150hps. Also waiting on a few key parts for the cab (carbon scrubber and fans). They are growing nicely though. Topped one of the BM last night and am rooting the top I took off. As soon as it shows roots its going to get put into flower to see if it is male or female. The other 3 will follow as they get big enough. Stay tuned for pics, maybe tonight.

Here are some pictures from today-

First up is BM2 with the crazy growth at the top. It put out 2 sets of nodes that don't alternate, and the leaves on the upper node have way more fingers than all the others on the plant. 10 on one side and 8 on the other. First time this has happened for me.

So far they are growing pretty good. Had a little nute burn but I flushed them and they are doing better now. No shots of BM1 tonight, I just cut the top off and stuck it in a peat pellet so nothing real exciting there yet.

Just a quick update-

Got my cab about 85% done. Still have to light-proof it and get the electrical system installed, along with the ventilation and odor control.

The plants have been on 12/12 for 4 days now and one of the NL has shown hairs, so I have at least one girl. I think the other NL is going to be male though. No indication on the BM yet. Check back tomorrow for new pics.

Nice work on the cab, you should have all mechanical components dialed-in soon and don't worry, NL runts always seem to make big comebacks in my experience with her! Good grow.

Been busy with work so I haven't been able to finish the cab yet. 3/4 of my plants are males......grrrrrr. I took 2 clones off of the only female but they haven't rooted yet. I am not impressed with clonex gel, I had way better luck using the powder.

Dude relax! How many days since you cut your clones? 4 days? 10-14 is the norm so sit back and wait. Rememeber to that you took clones off a plant already on 12/12 fso it may take a bit longer to root. Feed with a very diluted bloom fert .
