I'm headed out on a trip to see some very kind friends I haven't seen in awhile, I might even go as far as driving out to NYC too to see some other friends and family depending on how my back is feeling.

I'll be gone for a week and will most def miss all of you here, I'm thankful to count you as my friends and wish you all health peace and harmony in your relationships. One day it would be nice to break bread with some of you at a gathering.


There's been plenty of friction in the Den lately, I hope you all can put aside your issues with other members and whatever else may be bothering you and bring some peace to the boards.......


See you all in a week or so unless I find a safe place to log on.

I'm in a new city, don't really have folks to hang with unfortunately. Wanted to volunteer my services at some local shelter that serves Turkey dinner to people who are holding the shorter end of the stick, but the volunteer positions are all filled up! Guess thats a good thing...

InJoy the Road Trip S4l

the trip started off easily enough as I'd packed the car without much pain (see thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=211108 ) and effort considering I had to take 2 weeks worth of life on the road with much of it to be lived in the car itself.

I got to minneapolis & met w/GLTHC & his sweet wife for supper at Rudolphs a joint famous for their baby back ribs and other delicious bbq, we all enjoyed the baby backs and the meal was almost as great as the company; we spent way too short a time together but being as it was a weeknight and a 5:30am workday start for those guys we parted right after dining.

got back to my hotel room which was a Hilton Suites hotel and settled in, took care of my dogs ear meds, took my meds and a couple of sleeping pills even though my body had that nice light tingling buzz you get from exhaustion, I knew I'd sleep like a baby.

I woke up today howling like a banshee as I suffered a major back spasm in my sleep, both of my legs were on fire with nerve pain, the femoral nerve. I suffer this pain from time to time and lately it subsides by me sitting in my office chair for a few minutes and torquing my back, today's pain was considerably more profound and I could find no comfort at all. I even thought about calling in a massage therapist before leaving the room but if you know nerve pain you'd understand that would be about as much benefit as a bandage on a sucking chest wound.

I canceled my road trip as there was no way I could risk the wicked discomfort and getting myself further from home and the therapeutic comforts of the ComfoRest Bed adjustable bed I sleep on. btw that hotel bed was about the best I'd ever slept on. I'd gotten to my hotel room in just 3 hours from home the day before, today it took me 6.5 going back home as I had to stop 3 times to stretch out & rest w/the seat reclined.

Laying down here at home has brought relief to my left leg but not the right and so I'm gonna lay down again to hopefully settle the nerves in my back and leg.

I'll roast an oven stuffer chicken for myself on T-day and make a few fixin's but nothing crazy, some asparagus, stuffing & wild rice with hollandaise sauce will do me fine and leave me leftovers for a few days too.


gosh, I almost feel bad for any of you being thankful for a week w/out me on the boards, better luck next time.......

Holy shit dude....that totally sucks! I have a back that goes out on me occasionally, I have an idea of the pain, but you're dealing on an entirely different level. I think you made the right decision to go back home. Healing is best done there.

Sounds like we might be having a similar T Day, although I might decide to cook a small turkey instead of a chicken....fuckin love roast turkey. Also been thinking about a new use for the leftovers....burritos made with potatoes, turkey, stuffing and gravy...seems like those ingredients were born to be wrapped in a tortilla! Could decide to add other TDay side dish stuff like cranberries, squash, etc...so many side dishes would work inside this burrito.

Sorry this happened to ya S4L, guess we'll be seeing you here on the boards that day.

S4L damn man that sucks..tried the Holy oil rubbed in????helps alot after the spasms,and seems to lessen them for some (patient with similar prob since birth)

Any way I would just like to say that I am thankful for the sense of Family here at IC...The good the bad,the helpful and the asshats...Family...
