Going for soil to hydro....I feel I am ready to make the switch

Classy@Home

Hell - even a dumbass wannabe like me can do dwc hydro...

Rubbermaid tubs, net pots, rockwool cubes in hydroton.

Grown some great weed in small places - hps and/or cfls...

Wet it - and forget it...

Good luck...

I disagree with you on the PH in soil indoors.....my experience tell me that PH is super important.....I have a Hanna meter with probe....and i use it every day I am in the grow room.....

Now this is just my setup....but with my SOG...3 gal grow bags happy frog.....EC around 2.2....ppm 1200-1500....PH 5.8 to 6.0 max....

PH is still important....even in soil....I believe hugely important.

this is only true to hydro if the setup is made for what your wanting

pumps area must for draining water and making life easier means automating everything you can, flood valve / water topper..

also, keep a very good eye on thinking of clean up with any system your looking at. more parts equal more work, more non-straight walls mean more work...

just keep in mind, setup is easy, it's cleaning hydro systems that suck.. my opinion is clean up can be easier on soil as you just cut the stem and dump the "soil" , hydro you clean the media, dump the res, clean the walls of the chamber / res and any part in-between...

have fun, and good luck. organics is pretty easy as the pH is not really adjusted, where hydro is but gives you more tuned in system..

Hydro for example.. I can grow fully matured Lettuce in only 15 days...

If they are BOTH FULLY Organic, they are pretty much Both FULLY EQUAL lol in my eyes.

-lettuce in 15 days?

well this guy says different

-what nutes are you using in your hydro if I can ask, to be "full organic".

then why run "organic" ?

you guys are funny.. I'm out, good luck

If the Soil is alive with the expected micro life, your attempts to control pH will be futile and unnecessary.

Everyone's water, environment, plants, and methods are a different so I'm cautious about making a general statement about the importance of pH adjustments in organic grows. This said I have found that pH adjustments are not important in my organic soil grows with a range of water types (RO, rain, and 7.8 pH artesian well water). There are a lot of other organic growers that have discovered the same thing.

Ditto my friend, I seem to smile a tad reading your comments ;-)

Why grow organic ??

because of the lack of the need to have to keep an eye on pH.
and many other variables, mainly though the lack of harmful chemicals
organic pretty much sums up to be what RROG said...

Living Micro Life.
That as living.. it adjusts its surroundings.

From growing organic outside in my greenhouses to indoors,
I have also noticed the same nice feature of not having to adjust pH EVER.

Granted Organic HYDRO does have a pH that likes to move around a bit more. But as long as you get the beneficiaries to colonize there shouldnt be many issues.

The only bottle I'm forced to use is Dyna-gro's Pro-tekt. Approved for organic food production crops, critical preventative against PM in the PNW. Plant soluble potassium silicate yo...stronger cells.

Silicone being one of the main building blocks of plants cells along with carbon...thicker cell walls are more resistant to heat stresses and pest/virus attacks.

I want to be you when I grow up. 'course I'm likely older than you so I'm still working on that.

rrog..do you mean me?

rrog..do you mean me?

If so.....you must think I am a youngster....I am not....

LOL! Weeddaddy, I was actually referring to CaptnCheeze. What do you think of his no-till grow?

Ok......Just checked with my local shop....about prices for Coco....if I buy a pallet...60 bags...I can get the royal gold brand coco....same company who makes the basement & mendo mix.....I have used all 3 of these products and they are very good....The store told me I can keep the pallet there and take 10 bags at a time...if needed.....which is excellent...as I have no place to store all those bags.

So here is what I am going to do.....top drip system....same 3 gal grow bag I am using now
filled with a mix of coca and 2 cups peralite and 1 cup glacier rock dust per bag of coco.
I already have make up the main line...and all the dripers for and manifold comming out of the pump....and water 4 times a day...in a drain that will be pumped back in to the resivor.

Same nutrients....all OMRI products......Hygrozine....used for both veg and flower....once a week.

Veg.....12-12-.25.....pellets...that I use to make a tea with + the glacier rock dust..in the original coco at the start......use as....nutrients....phed water....nutrients....Phed water...for 3 week veg......Cold pressed sea kelp....used a folier 2 times a week all through the veg.....Vegg under two....8 buld T5....lights.....10" away from plants...with 2 fans in the small 5x8 vegg room.....

Flower Fish & kelp emulsion....in tea form.....2-12-12....nutrients....phed water....nutrients

Also.....0-0-52...in flower once a week

Mollasses......1 table spoon per gallon....2 times a week....starting in week 4 of flower

All lights are 1000k.....plants are on custom made tables....I made them my self....3 inch slope front to back which drains in the a collection....all tables are on 3" casters and can be moved up 3 feet if needed to clean or check plants.....tables are 4' x 6'.

lights are 1000k.....with the large rapter hoods.

have a 1700 cfm exhaust,,,,on for 15 mintues off for 15 minutes for 24 hour period.....Co2....comes on when exhaust is off....15 on and off for the 24 hour period.

sulpher burner.....on 1 hour every day....in the dark cycle.....have several tables that allow me to harvest every 2 to 3 weeks.....

Hi weeddaddy-

I have been thinking about trying hydro for quite a while now too. I have been looking at a Titan flood and drain system. Is there an advantage to the top drip method? I want to be able to have a 2-3 day vacation once in a while.

I personally use RDWC... and vacations can be as long as 2 weeks in my experience :-D Pretty nice if you ask me once you get it all dialed in.

Especially if your hydro organic... really dont have anything to worry about once that is dialed in. Just come around once in a while to check lvls... then come at pruning times...and BAM lol

cheers

I'm suuuuuper sensitive in taste, feel and effects of cannabis.

I grow only pure chem... Maxibloom or GH Flora 3-part. I have yet to run across any organically grown meds that were better than my best... except that one dispensary in Chatsworth, CA that got busted. That was some BOMB stuff that made me look into stepping up my game (NO idea if they were running organics except that I doubt it... too clean). I believe Gra3tfulH3ad and Rez have supplied that info but I've yet to put it into practice.

I would LOVE to run across an organic soil grower that has meds I can't taste batshit in. Really, would make my F'n year.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:
