bulb distance question (vert & effectiveness)

would a 3.5'x3.5' colosseum be effective all the way around a 600w HPS?

i think max distance for direct light would be around 33''

was a little worried, i have a cheap lumen meter from a long time ago, just out of curiosity put it on my bottom plants, and they were getting 6-700 lumens

i dont know how accurate that meter is (one of those soil ph meter/moisture/light meters)

didnt know if 6-700 lumens was enough for a dense bud =X

I would try not to get any closer than about 16" if you have a good fan blowin on the bulb. That is my experience with a 600. Anyone else wanna chime in?

I want to say the closest (center plants) are 17 inches from the bulbs so that works out about right

As far as how close the lights can be to the plants,i put my hand right over the top of the canopy,and if its too hot for the back of my hand,its going to be too hot for the plants.Now as far as how high to keep them from the top without losing effeciencey,i always have them around 18 inches but this also depends on the hood your working with.
