Chronic vs AK47 vs Critical Mass

I

Iron_Lion

does anyone have pictures of their past Chronic grows? that particular strain doesn't seem to have a lot of journals dedicated.

Here is one I grew a while back under a 250 hps, yielded real nice, like 2.25 oz, had great bag appeal, decent potency, not much smell but it was a boring smoke. Chronic seems to be a very consistent strain because others I have seen online looked like the one I had.

im gonna have to disagree with the chronic being consistent.... my personal experience with the one pack i got last year was this - 6 females, 4 of which were fluffy and larfy, garbage pretty much. the other two, were great. i still run them both, although the ak47 dom pheno with smaller tighter rock hard nugs is on its last round. the other, which i consider to be a accurate representation of the chronic, is dank as fuck. big sweet strong smelling buds that lose alot of volume when dried. it dosent yield like most ppls phenos do, like iries above. i get about 1.5 out of it similar size/shape. im running it right now too. link in my sig. hope this has helped some...
heres my keeper chronic at 36 days

I have seen photos of a chronic pheno from years back that is exactly what your after...It was called the football pheno cuz it produced a massive single bud the size of a football....The dude used to get 3 per light with it SOG.

I have been growing ak,chronic ,kalimist bubblegum, and all are top in my book. i grew out 5 seeds out of 15 and all where female chronic. there where 3 phenos 1. northern light pheno with a pine smell.
2. lime/lemon pheno that was on the sativa side .and the most powerful of them all the#3 grape jelly pheno .it made the room spin
it was some strong stuff in my book.

but ak47 is still the one i keep returning to for that all around bud to grow if yield potency and easy to grow in a sog grow.

but my very favorite one of all. is kalimist. i just love the high and smell of this wonderful sativa strain. it cuts through any thing else
that was being smoked before.

i think i have some pictures of some chronic.

Ak-47 is lame. I have started so many seeds in the last year. The Ak-47 was the most expensive and did not produce a keeper pheno....its a 90s strain. Get with the times.

i would like to see what your smoking then, did you run clones from it or just the seedplants?

Well, I had five females. Four males. One Killed by user error. A friend ran one...it was no good but he wasn't a very good grower. I got three female. I ran one (E) twice, (C) twice, and A three times. (E) was by far the frostiest with the best bag appeal. Similar to a northern nights 5# and also a Sensi Star pheno that I have grown...The smell was always slightly sweet. Thats it. Maybe a little hashy but mostly sweet in the creamy sense. The (C) had the traditional Ak-47 bud structure and look but slightly more sativa bud structure. The smell was sweetish but with more spice. The high was ok but I had a tolerance to Ak at the time.
Lastly, the A always looked like most of the Ak that people run. The smelling was cherry/fruity in veg. In flowering, I thought the smell would explode but it never really did. I grew it three times and could never make it smell/ taste super appealling....grant it, if you have a bag, people will notice the classic dank smell. Now, that I don't have a tolerance to it. It gets me higher. Did I expect more? yes. Do most people have similar experiences with the seeds? yes. Go for it though. I would love to watch the grow...It is what I would have chosen of the three. However, maybe weigh other options.

Here is one of my Chronics below. She yields well given the space she takes up and seems to be best in a SOG setup. For those of us that are limited on plant numbers, AK47 is probably the better yielder. I personally prefer the high from the AK as I'm a sativa guy but I actually found a Chronic pheno to be just as potent as the AK, just a heavier buzz. The Chronic probably requires a little more searching for that combination of yield, high and aroma whereas my seed pack of AK47 gave me several keeper phenos.

At the end of the day, AK47 will be with me for years, Chronic was fun to grow but I think I'll be letting her go sooner than later.

I got a really really great pheno out of a pack of AK47 several years ago, instant sativa hit that went straight to your head and eyes, visual stimulation and a very happy high but it could be intense for a non seasoned toker. It was some of the quickest hitting weed that I've had the pleasure of smoking. Has anyone grew out AK47 from recent years? Are Serious Seeds still breeding with the same P1's?

I grew out the ak in the past. it had no autoflowering issues in veg stage and there have been a few more phenos than in the 2011.

yes, the actual ak47 has been reworked by Simon. as I´m not sure when he excatcly did it, I give you a timeframe: 2004-2007.

i am pretty sure Simon lost one or both of the parents due to raids. i believe most breeders in Switzerland and the Netherlands have lost some parental stock due to enforcement but Simon is the only one honest about it. This is why a lot of cup winners from the 90's and early 2000's are not the same.
