Best pheno = best seeds?

I had one pheno out of 5 Maple Leaf Indica that is a lot stronger than the rest. I got seeds from all the phenos and kept them separate. Will the seeds from the stronger pheno be more likely to have the strength of the parent or is it just a crap shoot? These are f2's btw.

Crap shoot my man, only way to know is by growing them. It's a good place to start though:tiphat:

The purpose of breeding is to pass on genetic traits of the parent - so yes those seed from the stronger high mother will likely have a higher percentage of offspring that display that trait than from the open population. It is an issue of statistics.

If you want the best odds start with the parents you like the best offspring.

Sounds like a test grow is in your future! :) If you can deal with higher numbers, try growing out 5-10 of each. Possibly, as a micro grow. Then you'll find out your answer, have a bit of smoke, and have some clones or revegges of the killer examples. ;)

Edit: Were the males also from the ML Indicas? If so, the males were likely to vary widely in potency, too. If, there were multiple males that is. ;)

I should have mentioned the male was a MLI, just one male. Sounds like there is a more likely chance of a strong pheno coming from this plant than the others, but maybe not by much.

There are alot of recessive phenotypes that are the real deal keepers that you wouldn't even notice by seeing the first generation.

What I would do is breed the best male to everyone, grow out the kids and then
1. breed the kids back to the dad
2. breed the kids to each other

in the end you can locate possible recessive genes when you breed the kids together AND you can also find your stronger phenos when you breed the dad to the daughters.

It usually makes sense to breed your best together BUT there are many many many mutants that end up producing that 1 in a million plant.
