I can't remember where I saw it first on this site but somebody turned me onto binder clips and pipe cleaners. The cleaners can be bent in any fashion to hold stuff down and can also be reused. The binder clips attach to the lip of the pot and can be relocated very easily if you don't like your training. I have some pictures in my thread if you are looking for an illustration, fall/winter round 2 in my sig.

Pipe Cleaners work amazing.

Masking tape and yarn/fishing line (If you can't drill holes in your pot)

Pipe cleaners and a stick

LST is really a hands on learning type thing, tie a branch and see how the plants grows great way of training your plants. There are a few LST guides if you use the "Search Forums" button and do some digging.

Yarn and tape work fine for plastic pots. I move into "Smart pots" for flower, so I'll cut a small hole in the top of them and tie the yarn thru the hole.

Another option that works ok with Smart Pots is the double sided velcro plant straps, wrap your stem, then use the hook side on the side of the pot,... problem is you need about 2-3" of overlap on the pot for it to hold well, and the strap material isn't cheap.

As many others, no pics of my LST methods sorry :frown:

I might take one tonight, I have an AK47 clone that needs some bondage, and I've gotta take pics for the "Beer Cup Challenge" anyway. :tiphat:

Re: LST question

Laylow tought me to use garden wire. Just twist at the top, and then bend it down so its vertical...than tie it to its own stem. Much cleaner and easier than attaching to the pot. Also, he cuts the bigger fan leaves off. Lers more light in to the growing tips.

I'm one of those types that hates buying shit when I can piece together stuff I already have. Last week when I had to tie down 6 or 7 girls in preparation for the flip in a week or two I took some old speaker wire, tied it around the pots, then anchored the plant to that with plain bread ties/twist ties. Ghetto fabulous but I've done worse :tiphat:

This is exactly what I do! I use the green plastic lined horticultural twists. I'm surprised I haven't heard many people LST-ing with an anchor to the plants stem.

Like the velcro to smart-pot!!!

Hi Bigbrokush! I'm an Italian grower. I love lst! I have to do it because I use Cfl and if I want a good yeld I have to tie down my plants! I use iron wire to do it. This is the best lst that I did, it's jack33 by ch9 seeds; 55 days of veg under 300w cfl:

Pretty much anything that's available will, and does, get used, it's trial and error and preference really.

That's what I have done for my last few grows too. I somehow have an enormous amount of speaker wire sitting around , so it was an easy decision to use it instead of buying something.
