Your most surprisingly good strains....

Inspired by the most dissapointing strains thread...I'd like to share my experience and see if you guys have any like it..

Granted I've only been growing a few years and haven't been able to grow out many "elite" genetics...I've taken my share of strains from seed to finish..

Well when I first got into this I bought some seeds (was before I ever visited this site) and sort of as a joke I bought two feminized pineapple express seeds...

One of the plants wouldn't branch...just grew weird and seemed like no matter what it needed to be fed more...was just a hog....so I got rid of it...

The other one though turned out to be one of the most amazing plants I've ever seen...

It clones quick...veg's fast...and in the winter finishes in about 55 days and in the summer takes a bit longer cause it doesn't like the temps above 82-83 degrees...summer can take 63-65 days to ripen..

Pretty standard colors when its flowering in the warm...lotta green with a tiny bit of color on the fan leaves...

But in the winter it explodes with color...I'm gonna have to post my first pics in this thread...cause I'm about a week away from harvest on two very colorful girls. The buds themselves do get a little color...some red..some purple...but the trich's are so thick that you can't really see it through the sugar...

I'm not one that cares too much about bag appeal...but this is truly a pretty bud when its sitting in front of you ready to be smoked..

Yields decent..with some bending and tying I can get 2.5 oz in a 3 gallon pot of happy frog and a bunch of other organic goodies...likes to be topped and spread out bush style...the bottom third of the plant also gets completely trimmed cause she likes to throw nanners down below...rarely ever a seed though.

The high is top notch...easily a 9/10....straight to the head then extends to the body...very relaxing...I harvest at about 50/50 cloudy/amber and it never has me racing while trying to sleep.....but isn't the most couch locky either.....able to smoke a bowl then go get groceries ect...colors pop...especially this time of year when all the tree's are red/yellow...amazing getting blasted then checking that stuff out.

The smell...oh man the smell...after about a weeks cure it smells really really piney and fruity...just awesome...one of those that you have to keep sticking your nose in every few hours...

But after about a 2-3 month cure...it turns to a golden grown color and the jar smells like iced tea with lemons....its awesome.

Taste is the same..9/10..earthy with a little fruitiness....the exhale stays with you for awhile...I love it...citrus tastes start to come out after a long cure...

I'm definately gonna have to post some pics...

I'd also like to get some expert opinions as to what the genetics might actually be...I wanna say its crossed with some kinda kush cause that earthy taste to it just screams kush...

But who knows...anyhow...tonight I'll try to snap some pics and do my baby justice (hopefully I don't embarrass her).

So...I'd love to hear any stories you guys have of maybe bagseed from average weed turning out to be a monster or some freebies that you got that gave you your holy grail ect..

i don't have a lot of experience with commercial strains. the seedsman original haze pheno i grew out was favoured by all who tried it.

nice thread idea btw :)

Wappa by paradise. Not really a surprise but it isn't that hyped or talked about and I really wasn't expecting much out of it. Both phenos totally blew me away and the kicked my ass potency wise

I live in the tropics and have little luck with pure indica, so i like trying exclusive strains crossed to my local sativas and webbed leaved plants.
A couple of recent ones that immediately spring to mind are local sativa x (Cannacopia DeepChunk x BC Roadkill skunk) - stretching now due to environment, but has a sativa structure like mum, the resin and calyx formation of the BCDC dad, and a mix of the two parents smells - sorta tropical sweet with a dank but not quite skunky undertone.

The other is a mix of local sat. fem x z99 (an australian cross of wally ducks pineapple c99 and moonunits zoidfuel clone) - hybrid vigour to the max, very complex and strong smoke.

From the suppliers, probably cannancopias BCDC was a nice surprise - plenty of roadkill smell and flavour, small plants but very pretty to look at.

One to check on release (soon, and no I'm not getting paid!) is MBS - mind body and soul, from moonduck productions - info on wizards of oz forums.

K..gonna try to post some pics...never done this before but I resized em and put em on photo bucket...

This plant took a direct hit from the falling piece of glass as I tried to remove it with the lights not quite on yet...so some of the buds have a few rice hulls stuck to them...lol

This first pic looks pretty good considering I used just a regular digital cam and didn't alter anything..just compressed it...

Grew out GrapeGod from Next Generation Seeds this year. Awesome!!! Really thick branches...massive colas...fruity, hashy taste and a kick-arse stone. Excellent for thinking retrospectively and anything touchy feelsy (god damn you have to try it for any bedroom activities!!!). Oh...the yield is massive too. The write-up explained it was 8yrs in the breeding but is only available in femmed form.

big bang fron ghsc.... out of about 30 done in total, 1 was different to all the others.
smelled like a concentrated sweet shop!! kept the clone for about a year, and passed it out to a few, all loved it.

:ying:Most surprising for me was Nirvanas Blue Mystic, highly underated strain from a mediocre seed bank. Yielded great, nice taste, low smell, and devastating buzz.

To me it has to be the older stock of nirvana cali-o. i am sure glade i have a sandwich bag full of seeds i made from them. it had the most wonderful smell of oranges i have ever smelled. it was the first time i smelled weed that could smell fruity .it was one of my first plants to grow that and ak47. the cali-o had one of the best all day kinda high .the tip you go fishing or boating a good activity type high .

Very surprised by Nirvana Jock Horror. Found a huge yielding, head smashing pheno covered in resin. It looked like it was double dipped in trichomes. 6 ft tall, top cola the size of a two liter bottle. Smelled of sandal wood. Very intense paranoid buzz. So paranoid it had you peeking out windows like a crack head.

Runner up was Nirvana Papaya. Loved the taste and a nice narcotic buzz that made you smile.

I've had better weed, but those were very nice surprises IMO
