Hey everyone,

Dealing with those pesky mites again and I'm wondering if its safe to use a pyrethrum bomb in the basement while im upstairs in the living area?

Also if anyone has tips on what you can do if if the weed harvested has mites on it that would be great. I hear that tangle foot can help, but from what i can tell is they go to the top of the stem while hanging anyways so i dont see how its useful. I really just want to get as many off the buds as possible.

you can, but put wet towels around the door that separates the basement from the rest of the house, just to make sure....

grab a shop vac and vac those fuckers right before harvesting.....

after you harvest, hang the plants upside down like normal, they will crawl to the top, vac them fuckers up again....

I've used many of the Pythium bombs in the past. Turn off all electrical in the room and leave the house. You don't want to hang out upstairs. I'd use neem oil instead. If you already harvested then no need for anything except sanitize the basement. If your buds are hanging, you can kill the spidermites with a lighter at the top of the stem. Snap crackle pop

finish your grow and buy mighty wash... do not bomb your house especially if you have buds or are in it thats just non sense......

if you have a bad case in your flower room just use a vacuum until you can harvest...

You want to put a cloud of insecticide vapor in the air, and shortly thereafter chop down and smoke the buds? Sounds bad man. I'd rather spray neem or some of the other organic treatments available that late in the game. I did have a buddy who had success in late flower with the hot shot no pest strips. They emit a vapor called divchloric acid I believe. He hung it away from the plants and shut the fans off for the night. He said most were dead in the AM

Yeah man give it a go. My buddy that used it had a completely vegan grow up until that point, he said the fact that nothing was sprayed made him pretty comfortable. He removed it after 48 hours I believe and he said you could see the carcasses covering his floor lol.

I decided to ride it out anyways and it wasnt too bad. Thanks for the info though to everyone it was still helpful. I now have some plants at 4 weeks that are starting to get mites, this is a perpetual, so I'm having a hard time getting rid of them and seems like they are progressively getting worse. I just cleaned out the the grow area moved everything out and cleaned it also bleached the floors.

Anyone else have some tips on trying to get rid of mites with a perpetual? Is it ok to spray the ones at 4 weeks with azamax?

I was using a homemade rosemary solution in veg, but its really strong smelly and havent wanted to spray it in flower.

Neem oil will do it all for you and it is organic. It's a pain cause you will need treatments every 3 days and then 2 more every 5 days. if you missed a few then you can spot spray. Get rid of them now and don't bring outside clones into the grow room. Treat your small clones and keep the flowering room clean.

you can use pyrth bombs up to the day of harvest, says so right on the bomb, although i would bomb a max of 14 days from harvest.....

"Pyrethrin insecticides are derived from two daisies (Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium and C. coccineum) that contain nerve toxins which kill insects on contact. They are approved for organic use"

"The United States Department of Agriculture has stated that synergized pyrethrum " is probably the safest of all insecticides for use in food plants and that a pyrethrum formulation is approved for use around foodstuffs"

i also run perpetual and had a bout of mites a few months ago....

i used pyrth bombs every other day for 10 days to make sure i killed 3 generations of mites.....

then i used forbid of floramite on my veg plants to make sure they are not and wont get infected, once they are put into the flower room....

got rid of them easily this way and have been mite free for several harvests.....

Yeah... please don't use these during flower. Cannabis is great at concentrating chems... they breathe that stuff in really well, just like people.

They're fine in veg... I guess... just never use them in flower. :thank you: (Unless you're the only one toking it... or the people you share with don't care either. Just make sure they know first.)

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

Pyrethrum is fairly safe, but if it also has PBO, piperonyl butoxide, it's a different ball game. At four weeks you still have pretty good options. I would use Azasol rather than Azamax or Azatrol. Azasol is oil free, causes no phytotoxicity, is more systemic, no smell after drying [to humans], no mess, similar price, dissolves instantly. In sum, more effective.

Best way is to mix in a bucket, cover top of root ball with a rag or cardboard and immerse everything above ground. That way you get 100% coverage, and dunking them washes off many mites and eggs. Also, spray walls, doors, floor, entire container including the bottom. Non messy since it's oil free.

The big key that has given me a once and for all kill [till I carry more in], is to do a second dunk 36 hours later, followed by another in 48. This kills any hatchlings before they have a chance to lay more eggs. Plus you're done in 4 days. I usually follow this procedure using Spinosad w/wetting agent the first 2 treatments, with Azasol for the 3rd.

What has worked well for me has been to spray the plants with Azasol during the first week of 12/12 as a preventive. No mites thru harvest. Good luck. -granger
