couple things i noticed.....

no one researches anything anymore or look for one important element for a class because we have GOOGLE....

don't know what the answer is? GOOGLE IT!!
what the fuck is that? GOOGLE IT!!

spell check on phones and computers are cool. but i notice that i spell shit tons worst then i used to because i can just go back and spellcheck everything, everytime....

when i make a paragraph on a forum like this, i could have 4-8 spelling errors. this would of never been the case with me, several years ago. do i care? fuck no! SPELL CHECK!!

another thing....

does anyone socialize anymore at a restaurant or at someone else's house? FUCK NO!! we all have a cool smart phone that we chat with tons of other people and not even look at your face, even though were on opposite sides of the table.....

next time you go out to a restaurant, look around and you will see what i mean!!

i know couples who chat on facebook, while at there house, on the same couch, answering each other posts and not even talking to each other directly....

technology is cool, but......

You make some good points. Technology in general definitely has its downsides. But it has it's advantages too.

I think in about 2-300 years there will be people actually worshipping the 'all knowing' Google

on the flip side of your arguments, actually learning how to use the technology has made us more intelligent, and whilst people say txt speak is ignorant, you actually need a strong grasp of language to be able to use it.

Just look at the way kids play nowadays. When we were kids we used to go outside and play all kinds of games, tag, hide n seek, four square, dodge ball, all kinds of stuff. Nowadays kids just sit around playing video games in the house. And if they leave the house then the video games come right along with the PSP's and smart phones they have. Kids used to be imaginative but I think they're losing that too

OH MAN!!!!

dont even let me touch that subject! fucking little weak kids these days....

when i was a kid, i woke up, got dressed and was out till dark, everyday, who knows what the fuck i did all day......

now kids dont go outside at all!! stuck on computers, games, psp's....

if a kid now a days goes outside and falls and gets cut, its the end of the world 911!!!

me as a kid - two broken legs? fuck it!! walk it off!! your alright!! coming home with dried blood everywhere, so much dirt, didn't look like you washed in a year...

There's been record cases of rickets reported in the UK, where kids develop a Vit D deficiency because they get no natural light anymore.....just stay at home playing video games.

Doesn't help that a lot of parents would rather their kids never go out, because it isn't "safe" any more .

Technology makes us do nothing. We make conscious choices. Some folks will make anything look bad. I mean bridges for instance, do they make people jump? Should bridges be banned because they are evil? Food for thought. Peace GS

i do like being able to google tho. as a kid i was limited to dictionaries, encylopedias and what wasnt checked out at the library. sometimes researching things i was only able to find very limited infomation leaving me frustrated and wanting more.nothin worse than opening that outdated encylopedia and finding nothing or only a few sentances on something your really interested in. i dont miss those days. now with google one search can give me so much information i could spend weeks reading

To me its like the saying guns don't kill people, people kill people. Technology doesn't make you stupid, but people will use it to do so. A small percentage will continue to grow smarter and use it to their advantage intsted of a crutch.

Lazy not stupid!!!

Lazy not stupid!!!

Lazy is more like it...

Most of the knowlege i have even things like history that i was taught in school but i didn't care about it later on in life i THANK the stars for the tech that brought us Google.

My daughter 17 can text 2 differen't messages one on a phone while simultaneously write a text on facebook 30 word text's that say different things.

Unless a child studied music or advanced typing or stenography they would never be challenged in such a way as video games and texting does. She takes a graphic design course and the school also teaches stenography the instructor gave her the final for the stenography w/o ever taking a class yet she was very fast and accurate passing with flying colours.

Now almost all children get this advantage.

Will she put any of these skills to good use is entirely different.

No doubt the social networks used promote antisocial unproductive behavior but we are definately better off with the tech on our side.

When it's used to enhance ones life, the power is infinate, as is the power to enslave ones life.

All depends on what the individual does with it.

technology does make us stupid... use a calculator for five years then try and do some long division lol... feel dumber then a fifth grader.....

technology helps us but is also a crutch. allows people to be stupid and still get through life... darwin would roll over in his grave -=P

I think it is what you make of it. Technology has made me much smarter, I love sitting down at my laptop for hours a day and consuming as much knowledge as I can. I read up on every subject that interests me and I have watched just about every documentary netflix has to offer.

I always tell people, someday we might just be sitting around talking about this god like invention that once was, where we had all of the knowledge of the world right there in front of us and the almost every question could be answered in an instant. You never know what tomorrow can bring so consume as much as you can today.

I recently went a week without the internet, what an awful experience that was.

couldnt this be considered the opposite.

i can find information in seconds, that wouldave taken me perhaps, months or years, before the internet.

instead of paging through text after text to find a single line?

and , nowadays

i just dont have to talk to boring people that much, i can just email or phone them ;)

but that i can find information in seconds does not make me lazy, it makes me much more productive! ;)

less time is wasted!

i can contact most anyone, when i want, how is that bad?

for anyone intelligent, these are better times.

its only a shame society is still basically crap.

The point is, remove google, and everyone is an idiot :)

What about the people who think this of you as well? They wont be coming over any time soon haha. Basically it removes human contact and adds to desensitization, phone and email are awesome don't get me wrong, but when they are our main source of communication we are fucked if they ever fall through or we don't have access to them, so many socially awkward now because of this, they are never pushed into human contact and they never get used to it.

This is true, however some might say that if your always going online to learn, you might forget how to learn naturally haha.

Yes, people who use tech to their advantage will say these are better times, but what about the people who would have become intelligent with the old system of books, and in this new system they cannot adapt for some reason? All this tech gets in the way and for newly growing people might be an issue :)

And yeah, I agree it sucks how lame the world is right now.
