Calif. pot dispensaries told by feds to shut down

I don't want to spread false info, Does anyone know the deal with Good Karma Growers Collective? I've been told and read that they have got the 45 day letter and their considering closing. Anyone talk to them or hear for sure?

was at GKG last week, and they said they had not received a letter yet, however I can not attest to any changes in the last week.

###edit: unfortunately I was just on there site and it looks like they got a notice a few days ago.... this really sucks

Their web site says that they are having a harvest cup event on the 27th. The fed letter says that dispensaries should be closed by the 21st of november. That would leave me to believe that they are not closing.

On another note, if you enter their harvest cup event, you have to pay ten dollars PLUS 60 SAMPLES! Sixty samples, really?! That's just ridiculous!

My favorite dispensary (which will go nameless) just shut down. They received the 45 day notice and decided to cut their losses.

Pretty sad day in the cannabis community when the laws we pass as citizens aren't even upheld because of some superficial pretentious law of the land type mentality.

Wow. Good Karma is going. That's really too bad as I really thought that they were an example of a truly compassionately run club. Rowdy and the ladies of Clearlake where always kind and generous too all. The MJ community are losing a great club and some standup people.

They want our tax dollars but don't do anything to earn or deserve it.

San Jose mayor seeks to increase tax on pot shops

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- San Jose's mayor is calling for an increase in the city's tax on medical marijuana dispensaries to fund a special election on the city's pot regulations.
Mayor Chuck Reed says a referendum to repeal the new regulations crafted over the past two years could cost the city $1 million.
Marijuana clubs oppose the rules and have gathered nearly 49,000 signatures for a ballot measure, far more than the 30,000 needed.
Club owners say the new regulations would invite federal raids by forcing dispensaries to grow marijuana on-site. The rules would also require more than 90 percent of the city's clubs to close.
Reed said in a memo Tuesday he wants to raise the dispensary tax to 10 percent, up from the current 7 percent rate.

This is absolutely amazing, they're actually wanting to tax the dispensaries more to fund a special election on changing regulations that will ultimately shut many of the dispensaries down. That's kind of like trying to force someone who is about to be executed, to dig thier own grave.

Says who? I'm pretty sure the constitution states that any powers not expressly given to the Feds is left to the states. Why do we even have states?

Re> Says who?

Christ dude did you sleep completely through your civics class? Go ahead and argue with U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder, I'm sure you'll win that argument.

The big question that needs to be addressed is...do the Feds have the Legal Power to make any drug illegal-- Using the Commerce Clause is their only loophole, and that is "Bullshit" at best--:tiphat:

My advice would be to stand up and lets change the system. If we all just adapt nothing will ever happen. Freedom Fighter before it all started and I will remain a Freedom Fighter after even if it all goes to hell!

it may be bullshit, but it is the 'law'
as law is what the supreme court says it is
the list of controlled substances grows larger all the time
i too love the commerce clause, if it's given away for free, is that commerce?
that argument doesn't seem to have been part of the discussion

It is only " the law" by force they have no legitimate grounds to criminalize cannabis.
It was once te law ttha black people weren't people.
It is currently a federal offense to join an unsecured wifi network.
There are criminals running around shitting on the rights of people and making up "laws" as they see fit.

Would I argue it with Eric holder ? You fucking bet ya. You pussies need to stand uk for what is right not what some criminal says "the law is"
If they make it the law to turn in your guns will you comply?
If its the law to kill your first born cuz Eric holder Sao so would you do it?

You fucking pussies need to grow up, stand up and take the power back. It's this cOmplacent well the Feds said so attitude that is destroying the republic.

if it was not for the feds doing whatever the hell they feel like doing for about the last 100 or so years things would be different ........... and IMHO better all over the country.

when guys from new york are making decisions about what is suppose to happen in california, colorado or texas things tend to get fucked up. (and the californian , coloradan or texan has no business making decisions for new york).

the buck has to stop someplace and the way it runs now we can't even figure out who or how things got so fucked up ....... simplify

I would ask them one simple question-- Why did a Constitutional Amendment need to be added for Alcohol Prohibition...but not for Cannabis Prohibition??

i doubt you'll get a good answer there, other than this country can be very fucked up in certain ways
i doubt there was good legal linkage between the 2, at least as far as prohibition goes
it would have been harder to have gotten mj prohibition through if it took a constitutional amendment
