NOTICE OF NO CONSENT TO TRESPASS AND SURVEILLANCE, NOTICE OF LIABILITY

Dear (Energy Provider) and all agents, officers, employees, contractors and interested parties,

If you intend to install a “Smart Meter” or any activity monitoring device at the above address, you and all other parties are hereby denied consent for installation and use of all such device on the above property and installation and use of any activity monitoring device is hereby refused and prohibited. Informed consent is legally required for installation of any surveillance device and any device that will collect and transmit private and personal data to undisclosed and unauthorized parties for undisclosed and unauthorized purposes. Authorization for sharing of personal and private information may only be given by the originator and subject of that information. That authorization is hereby denied and refused with regard to the above property and all its occupants. “Smart Meters” violate the law and cause endangerment to residents by the following factors:
1. They individually identify electrical devices inside the home and record when they are operated causing invasion of privacy.
2. They monitor household activity and occupancy in violation of rights and domestic security.
3. They transmit wireless signals which may be intercepted by unauthorized and unknown parties. Those signals can be used to monitor behavior and occupancy and they can be used by criminals to aid criminal activity against the occupants.
4. Data about occupant’s daily habits and activities are collected, recorded and stored in permanent databases which are accessed by parties not authorized or invited to know and share that private data.
5. Those with access to the smart meter databases can review a permanent history of household activities complete with calendar and time-of-day metrics to gain a highly invasive and detailed view of the lives of the occupants.
6. Those databases may be shared with, or fall into the hands of criminals, blackmailers, law enforcement, private hackers of wireless transmissions, power company employees, and other unidentified parties who may act against the interests of the occupants under metered surveillance.
7. “Smart Meters” are, by definition, surveillance devices which violate Federal and State wiretapping laws by recording and storing databases of private and personal activities and behaviors without the consent or knowledge of those people who are monitored.
8. It is possible for example, with analysis of certain “Smart Meter” data, for unauthorized and distant parties to determine medical conditions, sexual activities, physical locations of persons within the home, vacancy patterns and personal information and habits of the occupants.
9. Your company has not adequately disclosed the particular recording and transmission capabilities of the smart meter, or the extent of the data that will be recorded, stored and shared, or the purposes to which the data will and will not be put.

I forbid, refuse and deny consent of any installation and use of any monitoring, eavesdropping, and surveillance devices on my property, my place of residence and my place of occupancy. That applies to and includes “Smart Meters” and activity monitoring devices of any and all kinds. Any attempt to install any such device directed at me, other inhabitants, guests, my property or residence will constitute trespass, stalking, wiretapping and unlawful surveillance, all prohibited and punishable by law through criminal and civil complaints. All persons, government agencies and private organizations responsible for installing or operating monitoring devices directed at or recording my activities, which I have not specifically authorized in writing, will be fully liable for any violations, intrusions, harm or negative consequences caused or made possible by those devices whether those negative consequences are justified by “law” or not..

This is legal notice. After this delivery the liabilities listed above may not be denied or avoided by parties named and implied in this notice.

Notice to principal is notice to agent and notice to agent is notice to principal. All rights reserved.

Oh! That's what they look like....really strange that my house is the only one on the block that has one!
I've been raided once already before the new meter,I'm feeling a bit paranoid now!
(The equipment to grow was set but nothing planted hence they couldn't bust me,it's not illegal to have a grow room on it's own)

ha, that guy in the video just wants some attention. Half the shit he said isn't true, and no they cant tell how many watts your toothbrush or your girlfriends monster vibrator uses. the only devices they can do all that shit on is future appliances that will have a smart chip inside it. In the future you will see more refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc with smart chips that work with the smart meters.

I don't know anywhere you can tell them to not install it. Pretty much mandatory in the USA.

it's new technology .. kinda like going from VHS to DVD; old cars to new.. you can't expect power companies to not evolve with current technology. just how it goes.

those damn infrared meters is what we got to worry with

I feel a bit better now,I think!

What do you mean by infrared meters...
My water meter is remotely read by a passing water commission car,is that the same type?

post some sources for that information please, according to wikipedia the meter records electrical usage in a interval of an hour or less and will communicate back information daily to the power company. they might not see how many watts your toothbrush uses but they will know if you have more than a few lights burning. i would say this is an invasion of privacy..

I have had a smart meter in my house for over a year and I have been growing the whole time. If you have a giant grow then maybe you might have a problem. But if you got around 1000 watts, then I don't think you got a problem.

this is just a thought no proof in this pudding but , I think they want to cut down on domestic power usage and sell it to Americanos @ a higher rate, ? either heard that somewhere or made it up,lol
IM HIGH!

I'm not a fan of the smart meter idea at all, but what the difference if you're using a lot of power already?

If you have a huge power bill you have a huge power bill. I think they're mostly bringing them in to catch people who steel power.

Maybe they have some software looking for that 12/12 cycle for even a couple thousand watts though.. who knows.

Got the knock from the Man with the Hi Vis Blue suit today (hydro). I told him that I dont want the fuckin thing installed on my house. He said that it is not debatable and I have no say in the matter and that he is just letting me know so that I can save any media that might be running on my computer while the power is temporarily out. From what I recall there was a RCMP quote in the paper a while back stating that

"Abnormal consumption is defined as any residence that uses more than 93 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per day."

The average home uses 31 kWh a day So as long as you stay under the magic 93 kwh number you should be ok.

Does anyone know, if they HAVE TO inform you, before install?

I am in a condo, and last week, dont remember what day. But it was calm and sunny out.
The power went off for about 10 minutes. Whole building, not just my unit. I could see all the other buildings still had power in the area.

I imagine if you are in a house, they would at least knock.
Maybe too much effort in a condo?

I would figger if they were installing a smart meter in the condos, they would do each suit seperatly so then the whole building wouldnt go down all @ once, just suit by suit as they change the meters?????

I dont know, all are meters are in a locked electrical room, in the underground parking lot. Maybe faster for them to do everything at once. I imagine going door to door, to 50 units would take him all day. Doing everything at once, not telling anyone......an hour?

I also dont know, how these will be able to send information to bchydro from the underground parking lot. Its 2 stories underground and you cant even get am radio.

Doesnt really matter too much. I still feel, that they already know exactly how much power you use. Breaking it down to 6 hour blocks, doesn't really provide that much more information. Especially for people that run flips or spread usage out over the day.

Dont worry about it BC hydro and police hopefully have better stuff to do than bust a 2 lighter in a condo.

I really don't think they care about how much hydro you use unless are already under investigation, I know lots of people who are legal and never bothered to let BC hydro know and they use a lot of juice. I guess things are different on the mainland maybe?
