It's sticky, looks like black tar heroin, is very dangerous to make, and idiots blow themselves and their houses up all the time manufacturing it.

It should be no surprise that it has such a bad rep.

I briefly considered trying to make a butane extraction of trim - on a much smaller scale, and outside. My conclusion was that there was no safe way to do it without spending many thousands of dollars replicating the kind of setup chemists use for similar extractions, which is basically a fume hood. I figured if I tried to take a short cut I would probably end up getting badly burnt - and if I didn't, it'd be blind luck.

I don't think that common sense protects the people on here who do butane extractions. I think they are temporarily lucky. It is worth remembering that the people who died from burns and explosions do not post about their experiences to web forums because they are too dead to do so.

I will agree to disagree with that blanket statement. I have been extracting for close to 10 years I have never had a incident.. Your basically calling anyone that makes BHO Stupid.. I can tell you must be a hater....I doubt you ever tried to make any BHO. It is 100% safe to make with no issues if you know what your doing.. Many of these dim wits know what the correct way is and choose to take short cuts.. Never ever extract where there is a potential for a ignition source period.. If you where outside and not sparkys sources you where safe to make it. You where just to paranoid...

are you kidding ? many thousands of dollars of lab equipment for what? there is not to much common sense involved in reading the words highly flammable. the common sense only kicks in after you read those words, and if it is working it screams at you "that means all the time einstein". if you follow the rules ALL the time your luck will be permanent. do it outside and leave anything that produces sparks or flame inside.

IMO BHO is nasty anyways. Use your trim to make hash using dry ice. Its funner to burn yourself that way, and the end product is better.

BHO is more potent then Dry ice or water hash. If made correctly has a wounderful taste and smell. There are some BHO thread that will teach you allot..
