I have a 3x3 tent and with the temps from the cool weather i can safely drop a 600 in without having to worry about uncontrollable temps. Does anyone have any ideas?

I dont REALLY wanna drop 120 on a Hortilux bulb. A little too much money in my humble opinion.

Could i buy a homedepot hps for 35 bucks and be confident it will do the same as a fancy packed grow shop bulb?

I believe this is one place that you shouldnt go cheap, I've used cheap bulbs and find that they run alot hotter, You can still get good results. My favorite bulbs are ushio, probably a lil cheaper then hortilux...

Two years ago i bought a sylvania 400w bulb online for about 15 bucks. It's still going strong, haven't had to replace it yet.

Im using 2 Eye Hortilux and Osram. The Osram has been a work horse. The Hortilux does not last more then a year..I will be replacing all of them with Osram HPS PLANTASTAR 600HPS grolux. I have not found a US supplier yet..

you should replace it. It may still burn but it doesn't mean the bulb still has the same color spectrum and lumens, etc..

It's good to replace your bulbs after a year of continuous 12/12 use.

I would never run a regular HPS for more than a year! Now a CMH that is another thing all together.
