Borg ?

F

Fred el Gato

So now that I'm assimulated thought I'd ask a ?.:frown:
First off I'm indoors and fortunatly they've only attacked my girls in veg. My ? is can I set the infected girls outside(below freezing)and flash freeze these lil monsters? If so, for how long before harming the girls? I plan on bombing the room just wanted to know if putting them outside might help. Also gonna bomb flower room just in case.:thank you:

I did that once and it was too cold outside and I only set the plants outside for about 5 minutes. The outer leaves crisped but no more spider mites for a few weeks. They did come back from the eggs inside my mother plant closet. Have you tried spraying with Neem every few days for a while? Maybe use a bit weaker mix because it will burn the plants some and very much if they are seedlings.

Take it outside and spray it down with water. Bring it back inside and start a treatment plan...You need to clean the area as well.....

Ultra Current

Cold won't kill the eggs and the cold will only slow the reProduction of the mites. Take them inside and give them 3 treatments of neem oil and a wetting agent like coco wet. Give a treatment every 3 days. Take them out of the light for 6 hours after you treat or you will burn your Plants. Shake the solution real well and make sure it mixes. Those bombs don't work well with the Borg but they work well with thrips.

Mites are easy. I live in borg central and only got them when I got lazy.

The key is preventative maintenance. You need to set up your routines so they keep the borg out.

#1 Don't have anything in your veg or flower rooms that isn't necessary for helping your plants grow. Get rid of (or cover) carpet, paint the walls, whatever... you want smooth clean surfaces that insects and mites don't like and that you can easily wash/clean and see.

#2 No houseplants that go outside and come inside. You have cannabis plants? Best to start all houseplants from seed. (This is a personal rule of mine... YMMV)

#3 Azamax. 1ml/gallon used as a soil drench on your ladies in veg. If in hydro... add 1ml/gal to your res. This will give approximately 30 days of making any mites that bite your plants sick and unable to produce, thus keeping the population in check. I do this every 2 months unless I find mites sooner.

#4 Stay away from other growers, don't take cuts unless you're 1000% sure they're ok (even then you'll want to build an isolation veg box for a quarantine period) and try not to come inside from insect heaven and walk straight into your garden. LOL get some comfy clothes to change into if you need to.

#5 Visually inspect your plants... EVERY DAY! :D Mites breed so fast you can lose your control of them in a week.

#6 Always assume you have mites and know they'll re-appear if you let up on your routine.

#7 Last but not least.... Hit your ladies with the 1ml/gallon Azamax solution the day they go into flower. Between the 30 day buffer you get and manual inspection... any infestation should be manually controllable (squishing mites by hand) until the end of harvest. Longer flowering plants may need treatment a few weeks in.

When you already have mites:

SPRAY in VEG twice a week for 6 weeks. Azamax 5ml/gallon plus 5-10cc's of 91% isopropyl alcohol per gallon and a few drops of plain dish detergent. (do NOT use that concentration or isopropyl alcohol in soil/hydro). This will dissolve webs, kill eggs and kill mites.

IN FLOWER I will use the spray solution with a sponge and manually wipe down the tops and bottoms of all leaves... I also clip off infected buds. NEVER spray this stuff in flower... *sigh* They may say you can spray and harvest the same day but it tastes like ass... even 2 months later. I wouldn't use any leaves that had it on it either... figure your leaf trim is gone if you have mites in flower.

30 days after treatment I can't taste this stuff in the plant anymore. That's a HUGE plus in my book, regardless of how safe they say it is the day of spraying. LOL

Stay Safe!

I grew for years without issues.... then I started running into other growers and then moved to a heavily infested area (mites, pm and other crap).

I learned quick... that's for sure. LOL

Stay Safe! :D
