In most all cases, trichoderma will not be seen in outside (fresh air exchange) conditions......

i would assume its something else.....one way to tell if it may be trich would be to see if there are spores, check, can you blow them around if you wanted too?, and i definitely would not recommend this in home as you will spread billions of spores if it is------ if you think it may be a fungus, one can try a 1:10 or 1:20 ratio of bleach:water and mist the top layer of soil, just depends on how worried you are about that being near or around the soil.....i would think it would be ok on the plant (you could always wrap the base of the plant as well before spraying) --- this is theoretical for this application, but bleach misting does work in instances of mycological grows ---- however trich is a bitch and will likely reappear and reappear until other measures are taken......

also, one would assume that the mycorrhizae would not create any issues on top of the soil as it grows in symbiosis w/ the root system ----while trichodermara spores are brought in our home practically every time we enter the house

note: fungus thrives in moist compost

I don't know if it's the tricho or micho fungi in advanced piranha and tarantula but I charge my rockwool with it and add it to the rez along with salt nutrients and you can see the fungus on the top layer of the rockwool. It's a dark green layer, I figured it was algae but I use it in dirt outside and see the exact same thing.

I have noticed the same fungus growing in outdoor plants I top dressed with compost, I wish I had a microscope to look at them...

Thanks Python, I'm happy for sure, still have to find the answer to the Powdery Mildew, 76% humidity at about 70 degrees during the month of Sept. seemed to really set it off, I tried Bayer's 3in1 spray, green-cure, and a bakeing soda and dishsoap wash, of my own, even just plain tepid water and a soft tooth=brush,I'd gently wash the leaves wherever I found it, I beat it, but what a hassle. Anyway, thanks and to everyone else who contributed I thank, I think I may be headed south to find a strain called Skywalker, I really need something new with some sour taste. Been growing the Cinderella 99 so long I'm getting cavities.

Hey Skagit!

So I've been using FFOF amended w/ dolomite lime and perlite. Tho it has mycohoraaze (or however u spell it) would it behoove me to add more to the soil? And what about humic supplements?

Thanks

Peace,

Good topic!

While amending with mycos helps in fresh potting soil, if you recycle your soil there is no need to add it again.

In fact, recycled soil is quite a bit better than new soil + myco amendments. I typically see better yields and quality after the soil has been "broken in"...

Also (more of a side note), it is common for me to find fungi perfecti (shrooms) growing in my soil and I have never found them to cause problems.

No need to add lime to new ffof, it has plenty of acid-buffering capacity on it's own. I add a lot more perlite and peat moss (25% each) to most commercial potting mixes. Definitely add lime if you are reusing the soil though.

My key for mycos is amending my soils with Alfalfa and soybean meals, there roots create beneficial bacterias, but I can buy these little packets of mycos, the're only $2.50 and do 6 to 8 plants, just a sprinkle in the clone hole seems to do the trick, I'm in the process of redoing about a hundred gallons of soil, I found a sticky by some organic farmers called the 3 little birds, I been useing it as a guideline. My old two part chemical nute program sometimes looks pretty sweet, it was so simple, but i like the organic taste of my strains just a little better, This year I'm gonna get a good composter, and start doing more, last couple visits to the horticultural store the place was full of knats, Last thing I need is bringing home bugs in the soil. anyway right now i've got little micro scrooms growing on the tops of this batch of rapid rooters, Here's a pic of a trainwreck plant I took yesterday, couple more weeks for this girl, I love the purple tinges on the leaves, I think my room is infested with tobacco mosaic virus, gonna finish this grow and find me a whole new line of strains, I've been looking for awhile, I could go to a dispensary and buy new, but i don't like giveing my name and stuff every time I go to a place, I'm a paranoid old hippie, I'm going to oregon for thanksgiving, hopeing for a new beggining from down there. Here's a pic of the sickness, its not a deficency in the soil, I long time friend whos in hydro has the same problem, clones from the infected, offending mothers, I put a bunch of pics in the infirmary here and all I got was u got mites, lol, wish i did, I can fix that, The reason i'm so sure its not a deficiency in the soil is my outdoor girls had this stuff, but I cured it with Bayers 3 in 1 spray but I brought it inside with a couple clones, now it's in my new chemdawg91, Too many bong hits this morning, i'm going in circles. It always starts with fishhooked leaves, the last pic is a BLZ outdoor girl.I had 15 like her,

Your leaf damage is from leaf rust, a type of fungus. Once a plant is infected, it's difficult, but not impossible to get rid of. Also, on most strains it'll go into recession later into flowering, but on others it'll defoliate the entire plant by the time it's done.

You usually get rust because your plants were stressed out by something, and weren't growing quickly. You can get rid of it by keeping your plants really healthy... i.e. very quick growth and pruning off old growth. Also, if you take clones from a healthy, fast-growing tip it won't have the rust in it.

I started a grow for a dispensary in CO with a bunch of abused plants with leaf rust and by the 2nd run it was 99% gone, just kept the plants happy. Some strains never got rust while others got it really bad.

Bottom line is that rust is symptom of plants that are stressed, and with the exception of very sensitive strains it will work itsself out and go away once your conditions improve... lots of light, air exchange and air movement...

I guess i should take this to the infirmary, It came with 3 plants that were stressed and needed help, I put two outside and they did cure themselfs, well I did spray them with Bayer's 3in1, I'm ready to just shit can the works, except my trainwreck strain, just never seems to have problems,
