Errr, no, if it's root aphids you have a very serious problem which could mean even abandoning your growroom & moving house. Make sure first of all that it's not fungus gnats or anything else.

There is a very long depressing thread on ic which will let you know what's up. The name of the thread is the scientific name of root aphids, something like phyloxera but my spelling might be wrong.

Best of luck.

if its not taht bad, its not root aphids. if you have one aphid, be prepared to battle to save some genetics or scrap your grow

EDIT: Met 52 seems to be leading as the best solution.

I've found the best way to deal with them is feed them some imid for a bit, then apply a contact killer such as bifinthrin. Then you'll need to foliar feed your plants asprin to get them going again. Since your in hydro, use lots of bleach, the aphids can't live without a certain type of bacteria that feeds them essential nutrients they can't get from the plant.

Aphids are dirtly little fuckers, but there are ways to deal with them.

Read all the aphid threads you can find, but the info above is what has worked for me.

Some pics would help confirm species , many similar insect pests in southern europe , most are relatively easy to control.

Have just about beaten them after five months in soil , being visible in hydro makes it much easier so dont panic just yet.

Some bags of compost and coco are alledged to come with RA , many house plants from garden centres definately do , common glasshouse pest , flying stage will actively follow the smell of moist compost indoors.

If you can stand the loss , would bin the two affected plants and try to work out how they got there , flown in or were on the clones , check any seperate bubble cloner or similar.

Read 40amps still concise thread and choose a chemical option should they return.

Getting rid of RA is not easy. I finally shut down at my house and rebuilt my grow room chucking alchohol wipes for everything that had been in contact with infected plants. We had to break a lease at one of our warehouses due to the bastards. Sam gave you the solution bayer fruit and veg is imidacloroprid and spectacide is bifinthrin you can get em at home depot, lowes etc. aspin is key to get rid of the after effects.

You cant just add bleach to the rez to get rid of them. Try using the bayer fruit and veg like suggested. That was the only thing that kept them at bay until i could finish my grow. Then i took the whole hydro system apart, bleached everything and used preventatives on the next batch of clones before they went into my freshly sterilized system. Its been running for 13 weeks without a single root aphid. Before i used the imidcloropid in the Bayer, nothing else killed the RA's. And then i add bleach to the rez every other day to maintain a sterile system.

You never answered the question: Are you sure they are Root Aphids? Its more likely you have Fungus Gnats.

Sorry to hear that. Was really hoping for your sake it was just gnats. Good luck with those bastards!

How did you research to know 100% its root aphids and not come across treatments? Imidacloprid is usually said to work.
It worked for me.

Good luck

Read that thread, this can actually be quite serious like someone else mentioned.

karanja is analogous to Neem in its insecticidal effect , would not have expected a total kill but hope you are right , little hard info on its biological mode and limits.

If the plants remain undamaged will you repeat at intervals as a preventative measure ?

Being used to produce biodiesel in India and will probably go largescale , the by product contains the actives and should be inexpensive , will try some myself as it smells a whole lot better than neem and should work on many pests , no RA,s left but ongoing mites to experiment on.

Used as herbal medecine to kill head lice out there , worth a shot on mites but might not handle RA,s in soil.
