Strain for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?

Hi I have PTSD from being a soldier in the Iraq war and was wondering what strains(mostly seed form) will help with stress and anxiety. I need to relax.
I don't wanna be sleepy or couchlocked just deeply relaxed so I can focus. :ying:

I have friend who is a retired Navy Submariner and for the last 7 years he has been working on breeding a strain that has a lower THC level but an extremely high level of CBD's to help with sleep. He wants to help people with PTSD and Night terrors sleep.

He said he simply wanted to created a strain that 'shuts my dreams off and lets me fucking sleep!'

He is trying to focus on cannabis with the ability to stop you from dreaming more than any other dominant trait.

I will surely show him this thread. Best of luck to you and thank you for your hard service for our freedom.

I am not sure he did not specify. It is only an F1 as of now. I don't know if he plans to release it in F1 form or work it before he releases it. Also it is his work. He said that his son wanted to do the cross but that he made the selection and that it was mostly his work. I will find out more soon.

Medical Report:
The Azeurhaze provided effective medical relief.
Pain Management - 3/5 A numbing effect was noticed when used heavily. I suffer from spine pain was very effective without causing the zombie like effect of narcotic painkillers

Nausea - 5/5 very effective appetite stimulant, very good for HIV/AIDS wasting syndrome.

Mental 4/5- Very euphoric, seems effective for post traumatic stress disorder. Very effective stress relief.

My fiance suffers from sever night terrors due to PTSD as well as severe ongoing (6+ years) depression. I've been thinking of getting her some Aurora Indica or Papaya from Nirvana as they seem like really reliable indicas with a real knockout stone.

She mainly needs it for the night, as I have some C99 for the daytime to hopefully lift her up a little out of the mental fog.

If there is anything else you guys can recommend I'd be forever grateful.

I'd probably try and stay away from pure sativas if anxiety is an issue. Your best bet provided you are in a med state would be to get a script and sample local dispensary strains until you find one that works and then get a cut of it. IMHO trying to find the right strains in seed form will be difficult and time consuming. Though if that is the only route available to you, I'd look into BOGs or CHIMERA's gear they're truly top notch...

Fellow sufferer here!,

I've been dealing with PTSD for several years now, and I find some of the favorites around here are really good for several of the issues but I havent found an end all be all.

Knock out Sleep - The White and any really good concentrate of a Indica Dom strain

Daily functions with relief -
Most of the OG KUShs (Order of Preference)
Fire OG
Whitefire OG
Tahoe OG
SFV OG
Mars OG

Chemdawg 4
Chemdwwg 3
Chemdawg D
Chemdog '91

Most of these are because of an effect of the high that many call "Narcotic" because of the Mental relief from your brain along with a very functional - Pain Relief - that lasts for many hours.

Then there are those time when your night or previous day was filled with soul crushing memories and that feeling if i don't know you you're an enemy(OP 4). And the only thing you want is an emotional and spiritual uplifting i seek out a sativa dominate hybrid that is balance and not an extreme sativa (Paranoia's a bitch).

J-1
Amnesia Haze
Jack Herer
Northern Lights
Trainwreck
Cush (Green Crack)
Chem Sister
Romulan (Bay area sativa dom)
UKCheese

Then there the times that you need to over come the attributive social anxiety's. Fear of crowds and crowded places, or situations that will trigger your ptsd to flare up.

Find 2 or 3 100% sativas that work well for you- this seem to be a very individual taste and program - some may not be able to consume 100% sativas. I like the Malawi gold, some of the Panamanian, many of the euroupen Hazes.

Hey good to see you are a local. My best friends are all in your situation. They like pre 98 bubba for their ptsd. It especially help one to stay calm while working and not react to loud noises. Also for some reason on the opposite end of the spectrum C99 and some c99 crosses help them with depression and lack of motivation.

not trying to be an ass but the only thing that worked for me was lots of hard physical exercise work hard enough and it will cleanse the soul with nothing but the chemicals your body and brain naturally produce and a healthy diet helps too good luck

This is an interesting question, as it would seem to me at least that both indicas and sativas could have some merit for PTSD... (not that i have experience with it)

indicas for the "calming/sedative" effect and sativas for the "uplifting/happy" highs.. but i would probably want to steer someone suffering from paranioa and anxiety away from pure sativas
