Might be a self esteem thing. The fucker was beating her psyche as much or more than her back side. She may have experienced depression and lacked the will to follow through. Time has a way of lending perspective and her feelings may have changed over the years.

It's not always the abusive hitting that does the most mental harm. Constant verbal abuse, especially yelling and intimidation is as bad a shaking babies.

Appreciate your gut instincts and how you acquire them. Some folks still play 'keep em down on the farm' and things like street smarts and common sense aren't passed on. It's all about power and a well adjusted kid would resist much more effectively.

Discipline is one thing, that was something else

There is abuse of a different kind that is prevalent in higher socioeconomic levels. These children's minds are purposely destroyed and programmed to have multiple personalities. The horror of this ritualized abuse goes far beyond "garden variety" ass-whoopins. It exists in all classes, but the higher up the ladder the more sophisticated the programming. It is far, far, far more common than the public is willing to accept. I'm not saying that this is a ritual abuse family, but it would not surprise me one bit.

He made no other contribution other than point out something that was completely irrevelant to the actual fact that her parents tortured her.

I have always said that people who are thinking of having children should get a dog and a cat first. The dog will teach you to deal with babies and small children. (They love you and they want to be 'good' but they often misbehave) The cat will teach you how to deal with a teenager. (They are 100% supported by you and you go around picking up their shit, but they expect to be treated as equals and have no concept of authority.)

i feel his judgement day SHOULD be nigh too ..... trouble is the statute of limitations is going to cover his ass from prosecution, he's a judge so i am sure he is well aware of that. the "investigation " that they do will prove what we already know and they won't do a damn thing to him. he'll get a good lawyer and if he is lucky he will keep his job long enough to get un-elected next time, if he even has the balls to run again. someone mentioned him getting a scarlet letter earlier ..... i think that will be about the best anyone can do. i just hope that it torments him every day.
