A perfect cure every time

That seems blisteringly fast drying, 4 days. Must have been close to 62% when you put it in jars.

Yep I agree. Finagleabud, you really want to go as slow as you can. Even still though.. if my buds are drying on the rack and get down into the 60's in a few days, I'll put some in a jar to see where they want to stablize some. If its 68 ish or less then I will jar up everything. I usually like to stay over 65 for at least a few weeks burping everyday. Typically its a month before its at 64/65 where I'll leave it a few days or a week at a time. If its 64 or less, I don't burp it but once a week if that.

62 after less than a week is waay fast.

Additionally.. I have a few containers that have been at 61/62 for months without hardly any opening of the container. When I open it up, it smells a little hayish and not great. I'll pluck out a few buds to go smoke on. Then later when I get ready to smoke those few buds and open the container they are in, away from the curing bud and grow area, they smell unbelievable good and stinky. So I believe some of the perception smell is in the context of where you are smelling it. (if that makes sense)

I think the reason your buds get stinky is that they are allowed to breathe.

I suspect this method would work even better if air were exchanged in the curing area. However its harder to manipulate RH that way.

Please could anyone suggest me what to do , I have a specific situation after reading this thread and many posts....
So I have buds hanging here
choonz.jpg

Some of them are hanging there for more than 3 weeks now, those on left are drying for 2 weeks. RH is quite high there, but they are smelling dank. Stems are still not producing the SNAP...
I would like to cure those buds to perfection without the meter so I was thinking about manicuring them and put into paper bags for one day and seal the buds in the jars and put in the cool basement.
Any opinions?
peace, boz

That sounds like a sound plan my man.
Tip:
Crumple a paper towel to put in each jar.
It helps absorb any "sweat".
Replace the towel after each "burp", and you only need to open the jars for 15 minutes or so at a time.:)

Aloha.:tiphat:

Yeah such a great simple idea and it should really help! Buds are "swelling" and there is a "burp"..... Hell!
Now my perception is a bit changed so will figure out how to do it :D Thanks a lot WeeZ!

Personally, I try to disturb the buds as little as possible to protect the trichs.

I jar them at 70% and only fill 3/4 full. I use 1/2 gal mason jars with a Caliber.

, when i got over 50 jars in various modes of drying, curing, plants still hanging, just the process of me and the mrs. manicuring 45 plants of 7 strains, took so long, I felt like a one armed juggler, the boxes allowed a decent cure without any bud rot or mold, I use a couple hygrometers also, whatever works lol. our indoor finished in oct also, well I do a perpetual.

Thanks to simon and everyone else that has contributed to this most amazing thread. I'm currently enjoying a truly powerful and uplifting buzz from a hit of perfectly cured organic goodness, amazed at how pleasurable the smoking experience itself can be when what you're smoking has been properly aged. Lovely!

Thanks Simon, just ploughed my way through 88 pages. For sharing & taking time to answer all those questions you are a gent sir! 1 more question here sorry. Lots have been said about the taste & smell on here but very little about the colour of cured weed. Would be very interested to hear about the colour changes if any that should occur during the curing process when the chlorophyl breaks down. Is it possible to acheive a browny colour, or does it still remain green? Amazing Thread, thank you kindly.

It depends on the strain, It can turn brown, my dutch Treat turns a brownish red. Here's a picture of some DT and a little Hash made from it. I see now you can't really tell the color, MJ comes in a multitude of colors when truly cured, take a trip to a good dispensary that displays the're wares in jars and look around.

hum.. funny I have ALWAYS cured like this... for at least the past 6 yrs.. or as long as I have grown.

I have never used a meter.. but I completely understand the monitoring side of this :-D

as I do it merely by feel thats all..

my process is just the same really..

chop plants...
hang upside down in a 65-70% RH room...
Let sit upside down for about 1-2 days... then chop off all LARGE non-sugar leaves, or until they are ALMOST crispy..

Then within the next few days.. another 2-3 .. the SEMI-sugar leaves will
start to dry up to ALMOST CRISPY...the ones that would be manicured off the plants...
at this moment trim these yucky leaves off...

NOW you have SMOKE ready manicured product that is still on the main stem... or MOST of it is on A stem at least.

But even still at this moment the stem is VERY WET... even 6 days after
chopping them(i do hydro, very wet, soil is much quicker)

Now take all these TwigWeeds and put them into a air tight rubber maid to get them
to start pulling moisture from the stems.. The buds will pull all that goodness out of the stems. These will be in the tub for about... 2-5 days depending on how moist the stems and buds still are.

I burp the rubber maid once a day for a good 30mins, and flip over the product.

Then once the, id say, 2nd thickest stem makes the CRACK/SNAP sound when bending it, its ready to go into jars.

Chop to Jar takes about 10-14 days for my hydro

Once they are in jars..is when I believe the MOST curing happens for me.

I burp them for 15mins a day for 1 week.. then..
the following week.. i burp them for 15mins every OTHER day... then..
the following week they are most likely at the point to where the jar can be
just left closed and merely checked up on ever few days or so to double check its progress.

In my experiences... connousour quality isnt achieved only from a great grow.. but after the curing process.. and that process in my opinion takes a nice solid 2-3 months when having very nice healthy product :-D

Cheers friends.

Love sharing :-D
