I'm sick of helpdesk/contract work and want to work IT for a company/organization. Basically walk around and fix the domain, networking, printing as a junior systems administrator. I've never worked a job like this before but am A+ Net+ CCENT. Just taking a break from studying for MS Configuring Windows 7 Exam :kos:

Anyone here work in the IT field or know someone who does? Peace

did it for years and cigna let me go in 2004 due to outsourcing...i felt a sense of relief and the stress was lifted of my shoulders...lot of BS man...its a lot of work for very little pay...should say the pay sounds good until they make you an exempt employee and you put in umpteen hours and see no overtime...been there done that.

wish ya the best of luck man...

get into a specialized area. Network security is always good...get checkpoint and cisco pix certified and make 6 figures easy.

IT is a great way to get into management. At a certain level you're in the meat and tendons of the business processes and getting a lot of facetime with upper management or even the CEO, and your ideas have a direct impact on the bottom line. That doesnt go unnoticed. Get a bachelors in MIS... business/accounting + some compsci.. and you will do well. 5 years down the line probably won't be doing IT, rather you'll be on the other side DEALING with IT because you'll be able to bridge the communication gap the best.
