High resistance to Mold?

So after a year that alot have complained about I think it would be helpful to gather a list of very mold resistant strains.
While some may not be fire quality, they may possess the ability to pass on the resistance in crosses.
Looking for good performers under the cool wet finish we had without having to constantly control it.

i would DEFENTLY look at HFHs gear.... they are devloped for 53 N and has it all... mold rest, colours, early bloom and knock out stone............... and they often use P.T.... or Erdpurt

IMO.Sweet Tooth#4 and Sweet seeds Green Poison, both quick finishers with great tasty yields and good resistance against mold.
I had good results myself with both.

Guerilla Golds,Mighty Durban,Mighty Freeze is working fine for me.Of course Esben's gear is a must but also a lot of udg-gear is worth looking into. S.

Holland's Hope ,, was specifically selected/bred to produce a mold-resistant variety of Afghan/Skunk ,, the hybrids of which are normally prone to mold (esp outdoor).

Many folks in Maine grow AK-47 for its mold resistance. You couldn't have a better trial area than Maine.I have a jar of this years AK from Maine and it's great.I would have thought differently but knowing the grower leads me to believe it's true.I've bred equatorial varieties into my cuts for mold reistance as well as pest resistance and it's working, indoors anyway.I couldn't live much closer to the ocean(East Coast) and mold and PM are persistant problems.Without 20 diff machines running our indoor grows are like outdoor grows.Anyway you might look into the AK as it's a great yielder and pretty strong...You might go over to the Maine growers forum and ask around, those guys know what goes and what doesn't...

I have lots of problems with mold and found that sativa-ish strains with a bit fluffy/airy buds tend to perform better than indica varietys with their rock-hard nuggets.

thanks for the input

thanks for the input

I am surprised at some of the suggestions others were on the list already.
  • AK47 from seed doesn't do as well as the clone that I have seen from Maine as far as mold resistance.
  • I am looking into Holland's Hope.
  • GG#3 is already on the list.
  • The Durban Poison are just early, not all that mold resistant.
  • Mighty Mite is a good idea as I think Vancouver would have the same humidity and late rain issues that we have but not available in seed anylonger
  • Sweet tooth #4? I would have to check on that one.
Thanks again and keep them coming.

Any real sativa would be high resistant to mold... I don't mean dutch sativa hybrids, right? but real tropical sativas. The real problem with them (and most of the strains) are the cold temperatures as the plants will not develop nor mature under lower than 15-16ºC.

As fas as indicas, I can recommend all the classic swiss bred hybrids like Erdbeer, Purpurea Ticinensis, etc... also Pakistan Chitral Kush is an grealty reputed mold resistant strain in Spain.

Regards.

It must be true in most of case , but..
Some of my fluffiest Sour 60 (sativa leaning ) tend to mold straight on the branches !

Sour 60 is a mold magnet, forget it for outdoor.
An open bud structure helps air circulation and makes sativa-leaning less prone to mold but sure there are mold resistant indicas (GG is a good example).

Kc brains is/was also an outdoor breeding specialist ;)

Not on this forum LOL ;)

Just make them mold resistant yourself.

Either use willow branch infusions, or a couple of aspirin dissolved in a gallon of water for both foliar and systemic feedings, the only thing is, it's not mobile, so you'll need regular reapplications.

The original post was for resistance, not maintenance.

Raco you got details about those beans?

Good to know. Will try this with next year's grow.

Hello,

I had some very positive results with Nirvana's "White Widow". There are some nice Sativa dominant phenos to be found:

I kept this pheno as mother (at least 10 runs) and never knew what molding was, even while late flowering in the middle of rainy season (practically constant 100% humidity).

Selection and acclimation are the key... strain choice is just the stream in which you plan to fish for genetic traits.

Best,

Ojo
