Hi everyone im just getting started and preparing for my first grow and was wondering if you had some suggestions for a soil mix from what I have at the moment.

1 bag FFOF
15 lb bag EWC
FF grow big

Im just looking to get started for now, growing some bagseed and staying simple. I know this isn't the best mix, got it on my first shopping trip and just want to use it up.

EDIT: Found my answer in the "Organics for Beginners" sticky, LC #2. Thanks.

I use the LC#2 mix with excellent results. I add to the FFOF base, ewc, perlite, and dolomite. Next run for the flowering transplant I am going to put a couple tablespoons per gallon of high P guano that I have in the soil mix. It is simple and works pretty good for me.

If you are wanting to go organic dont use the FF grow big it is not fully organic. Only liquid from them that is fully organic is FF big bloom but its more of a supplement than a base nutrient it is very dilute. Not worth the money really I wont be buying it again after I finish this bottle I have.

Look around here in the organic soil subforum you posted in the right place just look at the same page the lc mixes are on and there is also feeding recipes posted. Right now I have what is Recipe #5 on that page I think which is the Neptunes Harvest trio of seaweed, fish/seaweed, and fish. I also have the alaska fish fert but I dont use that much if at all since I dont veg long enough to really need it.

Theres a lot of options for organic nutrients out there you just gotta research a little bit on that and you will be good to go.

For ease of use if you are new to this maybe try the General Organics GO Box it is a small bottle of the whole lineup fully organic. I have a buddy who is a med patient he uses the GO lineup with excellent results in a coir based mix. (He does veganics so doesnt use the Bio Marine or whatever the fish fert is called.) The GO Box is only between $30-40 too.

Wow what an awesome reply. After reading through the first few pages of the beginners organics thread i found mostly what i needed to get going, and your detailed description will help a lot as well. Organics is definitely the way to go, I like the idea of letting mother nature take her course, and is why I posted here in the first place.

I actually thought about growing in coir, but felt like soil was less "unknown" for my first grow anyways. I like the idea of reusable materials. Planning on starting a compost in the spring, gotta start looking for some good threads on that.

I mix my FFOF with about half Coco Coir & it seems to work nicely
