the room is approx 6x9x10ish, with the shelves in place, about 2.5 three feet is taken off the length and about 18inches off the width. These pics are from a few weeks ago, i now have trellises in place and am about to flip.

although I originally wanted this to be a test of how much you can pull off a single 1k, Im considering if i should try to stuff another 1k in there to accomodate all the height and make sure i max out. After seeing selfhemployeds 8x8 room that he blew out with 2k though, i almost think the 1k will be perfect. his lights were stationary and the lower plants that were well below the tips of the bulbs still filled in fine.

The 4ft mover really changes the game in this setup because the bulb is never very far from the plants. there is prob only 1ft to 18in from the bulb to the long sides. I already have some supplemental fluoros (68w cfls and 15w tubes) in place, and ready to add a few more, along with a 150w hps bare bulb. Most likely ill raise the 1k up a bit higher than originally planned, and put the 150w hps underneath it, stationary in the center. Good thing i have that welding mask lol

I already have another 1k wired into the room, so the temptation is great to throw it in play, but its a cheapo hood, socket that is all one piece. I could just cut the cord and re wire it to hang it vert, but i hate to cut cords on perfectly good setup like that

gonna finish installing the rest of the trellises and post some new pics soon. ill take some of the other side this time :biglaugh:

interesting.. i would be tempted to add another 1k personally but hey if you're game then you can always wait until next cycle. that is of course assuming this doesn't yield phenomenally. good luck!

You really need the other 1KW in there Bro.....You can get by with lesser wattage per sq ft and still yield decently , but when I upped mine to 50 per almost a decade ago my finished product was as different as daylight and dark as far as quality of nuggage........and how do I know this.....

Ran krusty buckets for over 8 yrs with 34 watts per sq ft and did well......When I upped it to 50 per Heath`s advice after running the same strain over and over for yrs , I was shocked and amazed at the difference in nug swellage and trich formation with the increased plant number ebb and flow buckets.........but...

Yield didn`t increase so much as quality of product on the vine before harvey.....

I`ve preached it for yrs , gonna stand behind and stick by it.......

50 watts per sq ft will make yas happy.......You can do it with less , but guaranteed yield and quality will suffer IME.........

Good luck....DHF.....:ying:......

Thank you all for stopping by.

Shcrews - I am tempted for sure. Im pretty sure im going to, at the very least, add the 2nd 1k for the middle of flowering (weeks 4,5, and 6). Most likely ill add a 400 mh under the 1k hps on the mover and add some more targeted cfls as well. we'll see how it goes.

Manstien - ty

Choc - represent homey!

Hundred Gram Oz - Hahaha! I'll tell ya what though, my room is anything BUT dark. Good thing lasik keeps gettin cheaper.

DHF - thanks for the input. In vert, are you calculating square footage in the traditional fashion, or adding all the vertical faces?

On a related note, i have a 1k mag ballast kit running this bulb, housed in a fire proof storage case thats left open. Im hoping to flower at night, but the hum created by the ballast is a bit much, not to mention the vibration on the floor. This is in an apt, with the veg period running during the day, when people are not home and have a ton of appliances on anyway, masking the ballast noise. At night is a totally different story.

Im already going to get some rubber feet to put on the bottom of the case, but i was wondering what else can be done, if anything to reduce/insulate/eliminate the whine of the ballast?

I`ve always gone off what Krusty and Heath taught and preached for literal sq ftg......so....

6 x 9 needs 2200 watts minimum for optimum lumen absorption and quality nugs come end of cycle.....

I always built my rooms the proper dimensions for 50 watts per after I quit runnin Krusty buckets cuz I was runnin 2 rooms with 1800 watts in each flippin perpetual a month apart in age so as to harvey every month with all but the same power draw......

Couldn`t afford to run 5000 watts in each room with krusty buckets and all bells and whistles it took for environment and fly under the radar down here in Hell with the power bill , so I got by with 3400 watts instead of 5000 and my environment made up for most of the lumenloss....but.....

It`s been said that 20 watts per cu ft/sideways was what`s needed for optimal with bare bulb grows so that would put yas at needing 4800 watts with 240 sideways sq ftg on the walls using 8' ceilings..........

Now THAT sounds excessive though I do have growbro`s that use more light and know howta control temps , just not that much....

Less light causes elongated internodal spacing as well as stretchy flarfy conditions for the plants to grow IME........

My 2 cents from all them yrs.....DHF.....:ying:.....
