Voidlings plan for stealth grow

So now that the epic summer heat has finally left,I'm dusting off my cab and working on improvement.

I've increased the size of the intake holes. Scrounged up some DC fans to replace my loud ac fan. I'm powering two fans off of a PC psu but the psu fan is loud. The psu is external so does it need the cooling fan to power 4 or so fans? I got 2 walwarts that are 5v .7a but fan is only. 15a until I can buy a proper sized one. Not worried about smell ATM.

A PC power supply is waaaay overkill for powering a couple of axial cooling fans. The wall wart unit will work fine as long as the voltage is high enough to make the fan run consistently (too low of a voltage can keep them from starting). The fans will only draw as much current as they need, the .7a that the wart is capable of sourcing is a maximum value, not what it will automatically supply. It is similar to having a 100 watt lamp plugged into a 15a circuit - it is still only going to draw 100 watts.

I wasn't sure if you realize that running DC fans on lower-than-rated voltage results in them running slower? I have one Delta 12v fan that is one noisy mother on 12v, I think it is rated at around 70cfm. I usually run it on a 3.7v wall wart - it moves as much air as I need, and is much quieter.

Does that change static pressure? I put a black cloth over it to cut down light escaping and could hear it change sounds like it was struggling

Yes, slowing them down will impact the static pressure that they can handle. If you are going to buy new fans, check out the Delta models - they will typically handle higher static pressure levels and have a vast selection. Digikey has a broad inventory, quick delivery and pretty good pricing.

For LED's you may want to try Mouser, depending on what you want. Digikey doesn't stock the Osram GD+'s.

Good to know, they used to. Does mouser have the Delta fans?

Sorry, I'm limited to my phone for internet right now.

What is your profile pic?

No, Mouser doesn't carry Delta.

The avatar picture is of my boxer in his shark attack mode.

It looks so odd.

So I think my front door has warped some in the last year. I have tried white foam weatherstrip seal with some improvement. Just realized that the flowering was getting light from the veg side. Think I should give them two seperate doors but is unlikely to happen.

New question. I'll need to get seeds. I know I should focus on one strain but I need two. I need one to knock out insomnia at night. On the other something functional, uplifting, anti anxiety or along those lines. Any recommendations?

He does look pretty goofy that way, doesn't he? I had noticed how funny he looked when he was on his back and his lips flapped down, so I had to get a picture.

I can't really help you with the insomnia question - I think my metabolism has changed or something, and everything I try winds me up. I had been running some BOG Sour Bubble BX4 and Sour Lifesaver, both of which should be good for that, and they wind me up. I even let them go 10 days extra on the last run, and if I smoke it at bedtime I'm still perking along when the sun comes up. As far as the uplifting, anti-anxiety side, I have had pretty good results with Jilly Bean and I am starting some Sweet Tooth seedlings right now. If you've seen any of SOTF's posts about Sweet Tooth, you know it has some devoted followers for just that application!

I was drooling over bog genetics last time. Either single seed didn't have them or weren't feminized, I forget.

I rarely smoke due to supply so whenever I get passed something decent to good I usually fall asleep. There was one round I wish I knew what it was. It had me tapping and pacing full of energy and wouldn't shut up, complete opposite of my normal self.

Was downtown one night and got passed some purple strain that blacked me out with one big hit.

Ah, makes more sense knowing he's on his back.

So my room temp is 79 and with increased intake and fan exhaust it is 89 degrees in the cab with 30 odd percent humidity.

Looks like I'll definitely need a better fan. Which delta from digikey would you use? What would you use for the big side?

Oh, small side has 2 23w and 2 26w for veg. Doubt that's enough for flower. But not turning on my pl-l until I get the fans. Will be ordering Monday hopefully

Got up to 94 during the night, I got leaves twisting.

Also have some rusty looking leaves. I assume I need calmag.

Even with heat and low humidity the coco just doesn't seem to be drying out

I unscrewed the 32w bulbs as they're warm white and temps are still too high. Will rig up a pl-l or 2 tomorrow and see if they put out less heat. I have the 55w ones. .

Have to go to town tomorrow (hour away) and going to try to try picking up a fan from best buy for temp use

So I picked up a thermaltake fan today.

78cfm
2.97mm-h2o

It's 120mm so will have to cut larger hole tomorrow to install it
