John Arthur Bowers Multi Purpose With Added John Innes & Plant Magic Organic nutrient

Hello Fellow Growers

Anyone had any experience with the above???

have seen grow reports of growers using John Arthur Bowers Multi Purpose With Added John Innes and straight tap water until the second week of flower....

providing you pot up regular "every 2 weeks" there is enough nutrient in the dirt to give the plants what they need until the 2nd week of flower...

An addition that growers have found really helps with root growth is Plant Magic Granules putting a layer in the bottom of the pot in contact with the roots... this is the only addition in veg...

once in flower the 1 part organic food Oldtimer Bloom till the end of flower....

im so tempted to give this a go but have been growing in coco the last 8 years so its a big step i would normaly get 4 zips in a 10L/3 Gallon pot with about 4 weeks veg...

as this is soil im prepared to give them and extra 4 weeks... so in my mind i was thinking....

Cutting into 0.5L Pot veg 2 weeks
potted onto 3.5L Pot Veg 2 weeks top plants and start LST
Potted onto 6.5L Pot veg 2 weeks Defoliate and LST
Potted onto 11L Pot veg 2 weeks continue LST'ing
Flower - 2 weeks in Defoliate and take off any branches other than 6/7 main stems...
the next 7 weeks feed with just Plant Magic Oldtimer Bloom...

9 plants in 4ft x 4ft = 16 sqft aiming for 4 zips a plant...

any thoughts please feel free to debate :tiphat:

Hey Bro,
I don't use either but have only seen a few members on here use the PM range, but on another forum with 420 in it there are loads of users and worshippers of PM, so maybe you can get some info from that site?

if the pm range of nutes is as good as the coco they sell you have wasted ££££ buying them . maybe it was just my bag as other have good grows with it . I binned my pm coco coir as it holds the water to much i started to get root rot , i will stick to what i know is best and thats canna ive neva had a problem with it ....

J. Arthur Bowers MP is usually heavily infested with fungus gnats. I had lots of gnat problems with it in the past. Haven't seen one in over a year since I started recycling my own soil mix.

Im using, J Arthur Bowers multi purpose, not sure if it has added John Innes though, I'm liking it so far mixed with a little coco its got a good amount of nutrient in it apparent by the burn after adding only a very small amount of guano.
The plants are loving it, if a little pale, i used there seedling compost as well and found that very good.
Defo good quality compost.
Peace

You should be looking at your supplier for that sort of thing, mine is fine. Ive heard people say the same thing about Canna Coco, its down to the supplier and where and how they store imo...Peace

I had big problems with Aurthur Bowers soil riddled with Fungus Gnats they nearly destroyed a whole crop, it came from B&Q I always advise people to avoid it like wildfire.

i use the PM granules, they seem to improve root growth but not 100% convinced, the oldtimer bloom should be a good fert though.

I got fungus gnats for the first time when i got some peat free compost from B&Q.

peace

Yea, that site has some borderline fanatics about plant magic and vertical parabolic shades. They advise every single person, no matter the circumstances of their grow to buy the shit. I wouldnt bother with it.

I've used john innes before and it worked allright, but im no soil grower anymore and dont want to be.

Never used John Innes nor the PM stuff but as speed says it gets good reviews over @ 420, but as solid says its sometimes a 1 size fits all affair over there so horse 4 course I guess... Compost is extremely dependent on the distributors storage methods and then storage of the retailers... I don't think John Innes is also amended with fungus gnats at the factory, lmao! :D

On the granules, if it has mychorizzal or trichoderma (beneficial symbiotic fungi) in it then it will help build a fat secondary root system for sure and its the cheapest 'grow shop' friendly fungi inoculant by a few quid at least.

I'd pot up straight from the 3.5 to the 11L in 2-3 weeks it will be choka with roots using friendly fungi and root stims... plus the 3.5L rootball is a PITA to get into the 6.5L pot :D

What reflector on the 1000w are you planning on using bro?

I agree with this statement ...i had the same problems with fungus gnats and the plants yellowing off due to this ... i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Bio biz All-mix seems to do the job but its a bit strong for young plants.
But it fed to the end of the cycle with no problems.

I reckon there will be enough nutes in 11L of compost for at least 3 weeks bro, but I totally see what your getting at though and I guess with smart pots it will be easier, I was talking about square pots and it really sucks ass :D

Piranha has Mycorrhizae and Trichoderma in it.

I have never done a side by side (I only 'personally' rate a product after side by side tbh), but those are the main 2 symbiotic fungi on the market in friendly fungi root products.

Trichoderma mainly suppresses other unwanted rhizosphere fungi in our case Fusarium aka root rot. Some Tricho strains are more competent than others at this. Different tricho strains will attack will attack different fungi rhizosphere pathogens. Hence the 36 or whatever it is different types of Trich in Pirhana, lol.

From what I've read the the granules are only mycorrhizae but I may have read wrong, in this case I don't know why it's producing better results unless more of the Pirhana Fungi is dying off or they have more spores in their mix.

Mycorrhizae seem to increase root mass more dramatically than Trichoderma from what I read...

That light sounds interesting bro... expecting a great show whatever you decide on going with :)

I use J Arthur Bowers with added JI. I have been using it for years, both in my garden and in my cannabis grow.

I find it just superb, as good as if not better than most cannabis-specific composts, and a fraction of the price.

I use it for everything, seeds, cuts, vegging and flowering. I take it straight from the bag, and the only thing I will ever add is some innoculant like PM Granules.

For fungus gnats, just lay a goodly layer of clay pebbles atop the compost. No more gnats.

I grow in 6 Litre pots, under a 250 lamp, four plants at a time. I grow in a small wardrobe, measuring 28" x 19" (70 x 47.5 cm). I generally harvest between 6 and 7 ounces. but have also managed 8 from time to time.

Hope this is of help to you. Good luck.

I used to use jab grow bags with good results, this year I used ji#1 for seedlings then new horizon organic and peat free grow bags and a bottle of liquid seaweed and didnt have to feed anything at any stage from seed to harvest (I was growing autos), everything did REALLY well in it, I saved a fortune on feed and the time it would have taken to feed the 100's of plants I had growing over the spring/summer. all I had to do was make sure the water ph was 7 and the plants grew themselfs.

definetly recomend ji#1 and new horizon organic peat free grow bag
