Best Lights For 2+ month veg?

Good Morning folks. I am wondering what y'all think is the best set-up for a 8+ week veg period.
I was thinking that using t5's for the first 4-6 weeks and then rotating the plants under 400 MH would work nicely. The gang down at the hydro store feel that 400w would not be enough light. They recommend 600. I will have plants staggered one month apart so i can start them under less light and when the older plants get bigger can move them under another light option.
Any thoughts?

Have an irie day folks

Sounds like the hydro store guys are trying to up sell for more money.I use T5's and have not had any issues.

Thanks for sharing Pearlea but i am not concerned with upselling. I have known these guys a long time and they have saved me money and recommended more thrifty options when i was trying to spend more. Good guys, different than the shop i used to shop at. we all agreed t5's would be best for 1-1.5 months. That is my current set-up and works fine. I think they may not penetrate once i have 3-4 foot bushes.

Frank thats a good question. Lets say 25 3 foot bushes. In about a 12x10 foot room. These numbers are flexible as the space is somewhat adjustable. What dimensions would you think i need to veg 25 3ft bushes?

I stopped using t12's a long time ago.Don't like how slow they grow with them,of course have not used t5's though so?Been using 400 watt CMH,MH,for veg, and HPS for veg.Was happy with all result's!

Howdy inreplyavalon, I use T-5's for the first 3 weeks, then they go under the 600 hps lights. I use 2x600's on light movers. They blow up nicely in veg :)

This is 1 side under a 600 on a mover:

For a 10 x 12 room & 25 plants .... i"d go with merlots suggestion & a couple 600's on movers would work nicely .
A 600 moving over a 6' gap with 12 plants under each light .... yeah that would be sweet . :)

one more vote for t5's to start then a pair of 600's on a light rail with an add a lamp, perhaps switchable digis (400/600w) Movers give moms a larger sweet spot for taking cuts due to the different angles of light

Merlot, Dans, frank, and fastcast;

i LOVE the consensus. Have always been interested in using MOVERS but never have. With this set-up i was not even considering them. Another beautiful thing about icmag, GETS ME doing things outside the box.

I will start a thread once things get going as i am excited about this grow. two 8-9 kw rooms flip-flop with a veg like we are discussing.

Have a lovely day y'all
