What's new

have you thought about the physical pain involved in death?

My friend recently died a horribly painful death. I guess I had always avoided facing the fact that my death may very unbelievable pain.

Do you dwell on this truth a lot?

i am sorry about your friends death thats a huge drag. I have had a couple very serious and painful medical issues that could of easily been the death of me and it does bother me from time to time, although I do try and not swell on it. What is the point in wondering about the future as we really have no idea wtf is in store for us and worrying about it just wastes the time that we do have.

try and enjoy today and let the future take care of itself. Sorry again about your buddy, you didn't say what happened but perhaps he was unconscious or maybe he went faster then you think. try not to think so much on his death and instead remember his life and the good times you guys had.

Peace

For some, I can imagine death being a relief. Also, I figure that dwelling on your own death won't benefit you in any way. Live life to your idea of "the fullest." Death is an eventuality so worrying about it is a waste of time.

why think too hard about things you can't avoid? people have wondered about this for as long as we have been able to think and there are no solid answers yet. we all have one thing to do that we can't get out of, so i suppose we will each know all about it when the time comes. until then i am gonna concentrate on the things that i can actually do something about.

sorry about your friend ..........

Thats what Hospice is for.A group of people who take care of you at your time of death. For no charge ,their job is come out to your house .And make sure at your time of death you don't suffer .Or at least lessen the pain to some extent.

When my mom passed away about 8 months ago from cancer. The were giving her oxycontin and shots of methadone.I realize not everyone ,could have the benefit of service like this.Or not everyone would would maby want a service like that, but i personally would.

Incidentally as strange as it sounds, witnessing someone elses death .I found to be a major life changing event, probably the same when you witness someones birth. As painful as it is to watch,i wouldn't want to miss it .If it was someone i cared about ...Its one of those things you never forget...

idk man...I tried to kill myself every day for like 2 years straight...would get a 1/5th and take like 5 klonopin. Always woke up the next morning. I must still be alive for a reason.

Death is a release...The physical pain from living goes on everyday...We as caregivers can help with both...pal

I've never really dwelt on weather or not intense phisical pain would be involved, however...

..I am always tripped out that maybe when you die your body just stops responding, everyone around you thinks your dead, they close your eyes first thing so you can't see shit, then your burried alive to be slowly devoured and rotting OR you can be burned in a furnace into ash and then float around the world being stomped, inhaled etc.

Also sorry to hear about your friend.

It ain't the death, it's the dyin'.

My hope is in that all my immediate family members have gone instantly. I hope I keep to the curve.

Sorry about your buddy.

I for one am not scared of death and sort of await it with open arms.

Not saying I am asking for it but... I feel that it will be another experience, an experience where I will feel something else, the unknown... I believe it will feel like the universe, taking a hold of me... wrapping me up

incredible pain... yeah that's something else

sometimes people have to go through incredible pain...
it happens...

again I say; pain is temporary

you'll have to grit your teeth and go through the fire

It's not healthy to live in constant fear
it may or may not happen

what can you do about it ? except try to play it safe...

relax take some deep breaths, the world can be a very dangerous place...

but if we say inside and never come out, we'll be missing out

'the pain of death is like having a thorny bush inserted in the rectum and pulled out of the mouth."

i attribute this to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, but i could be wrong...

hope this helps!

clearly you weren't trying that hard - you would've increased the dose or tried something different....

to the OP, its hard to come to terms with someone else's painful death - but im sure they wouldnt have wanted you to dwell on it.
best to appreciate every good day - it may never turn bad.
