Vaped Too Much?

So recently I've been making a concerted effort to vape more and smoke less for health reasons. I've been using my trusty analogue Volcano kept between 5 and 6 (190C) for an always tasty and never harsh bag or 5 of vapour. Always gets me horrifically stoned.

All was going well, except recently I'd noticed more and more that vaping was making me cough and generally feel like I'd been doing bong hits. My girl was noticing the same thing and had started to refuse bags at the end of the night because of it. So I switch back to smoking for a few days and notice less lung discomfort and irritation. Which is odd.

Now I have been vaping more than I ever have before, so was wondering if it was just that Ive vaped a bit too much?

Anyone else experience this sort of thing?

it can also be the weed

sometimes weed smokes great but makes me cough in the vape and vice versa

try vaping with moister herb

for vaping i like hertb dried for about 1 week, as soon as the stem snaps it is great to vape

i treat weed for vaping differentlythen weed for smoking after harvest

i dry it for 2 weeks with the leaves on or one week when freshly cut and then 2-3 weeks of simon cure then it goes into the freezer

the weed for smoking , i just keep in a glass jar(but that wed is not so nice to vape)

Hi THC123 - yeah, this did cross my mind. But i'm lucky enough to have a good selection of herb and have it cured at between 55-68% humidity to keep it nice for vaping. And they all irritate my lungs after more than 3 bags.

ok let's lookj further then , do you clean your pieces every week and replace the bag?

if i dont replace the bag and dont clean i also get irritations

that being said, a lot of the glass jar herbs do make me cough when i vape

the ones that never saw a jar in their life (out of the freezer after basic dry) dont make me cough, thats why i freeze my vape stash, (that weed is primo to vape but not nice to smoke)

I've noticed that while the vaporizer smoke is smooth, it's also dry because of the hot air.
Vaping irritates the lungs and pathways by drying them with all this dry air in the balloons (not a small amount of air that is).
So if vaping a lot it's a good idea to use more moist bud, preferably fresh as THC123 suggests.

Interesting THC123. So when you take the frozen weed from the freezer how damp is it? And how quick dried is it? You think moisture needs to be added to the dried weed before vaping?

Yoss - yeah, it feels like it's an irritation probably from the dryness. Wetter weed will be tried in a few weeks. Will try putting the volcano through water too.

I'll also try giving it a clean and replacing the bag. It's not that bad, but could probably be cleaner. I had a vape this morning and it feels like i've smoked a joint.

check that the surface area under the volcano is clean and dust free. air is sucked in from underneath the volcano so you may be inhaling dust particles along with the vapors.

no adding moisture ruins the taste and high IMO

So i freeze weed as soon as the stem snaps AND it is tasty and strong in the vape

so freshly cut herb takes about 7-10 days to dry till that point

the herb dried with leaves on takes 14-21 days

so basically the stem snaps but the "meat" of the flower is still squishy and sticky with that in your face fresh aroma

thats why it is also best to freeze in small quantities that last you a couple of days, this way you always have fresh weed with that super dank smell

ironing bags , i cut them in small sizes with the help of scissors and an iron

i make 5-10 gram bags , i dont weigh but that is most of the time what is in those bags

you could also do a short 2-4 week cure before freezing , but curing too long isnt nice for vaping but it is very nice for smoking,

hello the volcano actually sucks like that if you dont add a bong for additional watercooling effect. i had the same problems like you! now i only vape through a little bong and its great and i dont have the problem anymore. i think this is really a design error in the volcano, with integrated watercooling it would be the perfect vape. nowadays id rather buy a verdamper.

i'm sensitive to chlorophyll. Does freezing keep the chlorophyll? Not sure if chlorophyll and vaping matters though.

Once you throw it in the freezer, its gonna dry out rapidly. Contrary to what people might think, the humidity in a freezer is extremely low (all the humidity turns into ice ^^).

When you remoisturise weed, it seems you restart the curing process atleast thats what it smells like, the flavor could deteriorate instead of improve. You should get a humidor to keep the weed at the ideal humidity.

humidity in the freezer is low, but because all the moisture is in ice form it will not evaporate. frost free freezers can dry stuff out because they partially defrost to remove water vapor -but as long as the weed or whatever is wrapped up in an airtight bag then it will stay exactly as you left it.

I have noticed my lungs starting to hurt when I vape too much also. I use a digi cano, first couple bags at 369, then regrind, and do a couple more bags at 379. Any ideas on the best way to filter the bag through a bong?

I have seen those glass bulbs to allow hoses which fit over the cano but have heard they do not work the best. I have tried simply putting the mouth piece up to my inline where the bowl would normally be pulled and and try hitting like that however it does not work very well.

I guess maybe taking off the mouthpiece and trying might provide a little more air movement.

illadelph makes a bong adapter for the volcano easy valve set , doesn't work with the other though .

On another note , just cleaning my herb chamber. Pulled a crispy ear wig outta the top of the chamber

He puts the weed in sealed bags- humidity in the freezer is irrelevant...

You are right to a certain point. As long as you freeze something in standard home freezer, moisture will be forced out of the product during the freezing process. The moisture that is still in product will expand and the ice particles will rip cells and eventually leave the product.
