Was just wondering if you pre flushed your coco brick as the salts can be kinda high in brick coco also why the lime in your coco? If your going with a chemical fertilizer I would think the lime would make your ph run high. If organic no problem but if not your going to run into probs. Peace!

rockwool can be finicky .... keep it moist not wet . to wet will cause the seed & roots to rot . to dry & it will never grow . just moist .... you can even pick it up and give it a gentle squeeze to see if its to wet ... you want just a drop or 2 of water when squeezing it ... anymore than that & it was to wet . put them in a tray on a seedling mat (heater ) you want them warm to hot so becarefull . indirect lighting till they sprout & once they do you can put your cfl's over them to grow out . the farther away the light is from the seedling ... the more it will stretch . so keep it close 2' to 3 " away . no nutes till it has 3 or 4 new sets of leaves then its 1/4 the recomended dosages .
right now just let them sprout & grow some decent roots in the cube before you put it any coco . when you do put them in the coco .... put the coco in the cups or small buckets & flush them good . flush them with tap first till theres nothing but clean water coming out of the drainage hole ( no merky water ) you'll see the difference . then you can presoak the coco with 1/4 strength nute , calmag (if needed ) & some root innoculant (i like canna rhizotonic )( do this step every time you use new coco !!!! or do the whole brick first before hand then store it in another container ). if your going to use a 16oz cup of canna for the first stage ... just put the rock wool either on top of the cup of coco or just 1/4 of the cube just under the surface ... the roots will grow down into the coco & you can fully bury the rockwool block on the next transplant . I hate rockwool by the way .... next time you do seeds .. just put them very shallow into a cup of coco & will save the rooting in rockwool step for you .

theres more but we'll let ya catch up abit & if you have questions ... you know where we are . good luck dude .. my biggest tip would be.... be patient !!! let them just grow . it will happen for you ... don't love them too much . you can make matters worse by handling them all the time ...let'em grow dude . & watch . you'll get it i'm sure :)

hi mardogg, thanks for your insight. yes, i flushed out my 4 bricks with a few gal of tap water, then again with 3 gal of 5.8 ph,tsp of epsom, drop of superthrive, water which i let sit out for 48hrs.
i wanted to address the lime issue you expressed concern over tho. my mix is one identical to AskEd's(now famous) mix. it consists of 75%coco 25% perlite, and a tbsp of pellletized dolomite lime per gal of mix. here are his points on the subject.....

"Calcium? The only real issue I?ve ever experienced in all my coco grows is calcium deficiency. This is a well documented trait of coco, it tends to absorb it and not release it in the quantity the plant needs. Many coco specific nutrients claim that their product corrects this, and I believe some do. But I can tell you not all of them do.To correct the issue, whether using coco specific nutes or standard hydro nutes, supplemental calcium is needed. Botanicare CalMag is a very common and recommended fix. It works well but some heavy feeding plants hitting their stride, even twice the dosage may not be enough. This has happened to me on many occasions. The one thing I?ve found that works very well is adding dolomite limestone to my coco medium at the rate of 1 tbsp per gallon of medium. Hydrated lime also works very well, and needs to be applied every 4 to 5 weeks as a top dressing.Once a calcium deficiency starts, it will continue to deteriorate even after a fix has been applied. It?s an extremely frustrating ordeal

** I highly advise adding some lime to your base coco at the rate of 1 tbsp per gallon of medium. Hydrated is good, I prefer pelletized because it's slow release and keeps the calcium issue at bay during flowering when it's the most troublesome. It has a lot of other benefits, but the calcium supply can save you a lot of headaches later.

now should i lower my ph from 5.8 to lower than that when watering because of the lime pellets? maybe 5.5 or lower. i know theres a lockout somewhere at 5.7 tho. whats your method of measuring ph? i've taking a sample of mix and give it 5 to1 water through a small cup then check.

great advice as always dans. what do you think about coco starter cubes instead of RW? dont care for RW either but familiar with em i guess. on the dwc i got powdery stuff on the tops and didnt help the slime.

also whats your take on the dolomite lime issue?

check this out Merx

conincidenly, i am now running an experiment for this question, because of problems I had before of seeds sprouting and dying right away, or not sprouting at all. before, I would sprout in rockwool cubes, then plant the seedlings with rockwool in the coco. bad idea - rockwool dries a lot faster and some seedlings died. in addition, when roots exposed to the coco, the seedlings would present the known symptoms - staying shrunken and frightened. The problem was solved when I started feeding the coco. (this was with RO water)

Hello Meraxes,

I use maxibloom, liquid koolbloom, and molasses and I leave it at that. I also use roughly 30% perlite in my coco. The only thing I ph is in going nutes I just keep it between 5.8-6.1, don't really worry about the run off I never flush just water till 30% run off. Oh yeah forgot to mention I also use calmag plus when I feel it's needed. Using tap, sometimes ro, no difference between the two just when using ro is when I add the calmag.

big bud and one of the bagseed sprouted. the bagseed one looks yellow and the big bud looks ok for now. think i may have overwatered because they both look a little damped off. not gonna water for a day or 2 see if that helps under the 400w. the thai still hasent even cracked. maybe SSC dosent have the best seeds, but i'm pretty sure its me

SSC is knida expensive from my perspective of view. I was thinking to order from 'herbies' next time tho, seems more legit, the seed comes in the toy lol. anyway, i really hope your thai sprouts soon dude. I'am just reading though this coco section right at this moment. Why is Male seeds so much cheaper than Fem seeds?. Is it because Male's are not able to regenerate, no clone?. I've heard that Male seed grows faster than Fem once but everyone prefer's Fem seeds.

you dont want males. males are for breeding, they dont make bud, only the females make bud
