Cloning questions,

Hello friends, I've been searching the forum and never noticed there isn't any subforum for cloning/propagation! I hope this area works, other threads are all over the place lol.

Ok, I'm going to be taking clones for the first time in quite a while. Never had problems before but I'm trying something new and have some little detail questions.

I recently went to the hydro shop to get some rapidrooters, I've always used peat pellets but figured I'd try the rapid rooters. Noticed the price and the shop has their own generic moss plugs, exactly like the rapid rooters for only 20c each. They were in a big bag inside a rubbermaid tub. They were kept moist and looked clean. My only issue with this is all the hands diving into the bin, as did mine, possibly contaminating the plugs. They were put into a ziplock bag, still moist, for the last few days, no mold...yet.

So my question is should I try to sterilize these just in case? I was thinking of putting them in the oven for a bit or boiling them. Is this over kill? I don't want to damage the moss taking unnecessary precautions.

Secondly, I noticed there are already holes punched down the center of em that are a little big, could that be a problem? I think there is room to poke another hole in it.

Sorry if these questions are just silly or been discussed. Just want to be safer than sorry down the road!

Thanks for stopping by and any advice! I'll be working with power kush and sweet blue!

LOL. Why do we even bother with stickies. It seems as though the stickies atop every forum are considered a "NO-READ" zone.

Hey, at least you didn't post directly underneath it. Anyway, here ya' go: CLONERS- a collection of various methods. It includes brief overviews of nearly every major method of cloning with links to original posts. Pick a method, any method.

Hey thanks for posting...I think. I am aware of that sticky and have searched the forums. Did you read my post at all? You come in here calling me out for what you think is laziness, but you seem to have not even read my questions. Kinda funny.

I asked if I need to worry about questionable peat plugs being contaminated and if it would be good to sterilize them. I want to avoid mold. I have rooting hormone with fungicide but will that prevent mold from growing on the outside of the peat? I have never boiled, baked, or microwaved peat moss and haven't seen that discussed here. Thus my creation of a thread to address my questions. That is what the forum is for. I also asked if I need to worry about holes that are bigger than the stem of the cuttings. I don't believe that is addressed in your thread either.

Want to try again buddy, with something that can actually be helpful to me? If not that's ok, it just gets annoying seeing people discourage others from starting threads, even more so when they are ignorant of the OP.

You were the one who said he searched and found nothing. Now you claim to be aware of the sticky but, obviously didn't read it or you wouldn't have posted.

I had further info but, seeing how you respond to helpful posts, I'll pass.

just add h202 @1.6ml/liter to not only sterilize but increase survival rates and rooting time, no need for bennies, h202 does it all and more, mm

Do you blatantly ignore my actual questions? I will repeat for the third time in my third post.

1. Should I sterilize my peat moss plugs? What are some methods?

2. The holes are large in the peat plugs, is that ok or do I need to do something about it?

Now, if you can tell me where in that thread you so masterfully produced my questions are addressed - I will apologize for the attitude and lack of awareness on my part. I searched to find answers to my questions, found nothing so I made a thread. Is that some big fucking problem than I'm not aware of?

No need to sterilize the plugs.

Stick your clone in the big hole and then tear a couple small chunks off the side and jam 'em down into the hole. Or poke new holes. Either way works.

Hey Freezer, you seem like a very cool dude, always willing to help. Especially with the noobs. To be honest though, this is how I saw your first reply to the OP as well. I've read around here a lot and I don't think I've ever seen anyone ask about sanitizing their rapid rooters.
