i have been smoking for 40 some years and find that there is no smoke out there that i can get that i get off on. i have built up quite a tolerance and would like to know what is out there that i can get off on ? i seem to be setting on top of the high and not in it.

You just need to quit smoking for a while for your tolerance to go back down (tolerance break). Just take off a few weeks and then weed will be a lot more fun. Until then, even the best weeds will seem boring.

The other day i smoked for the first time in over a year and a half.1 big bubbler hit of red hairs, and small bud pieces. As the buzz rushed over my body.

For the first time in over 15-20 years ,i actually started getting "Giddy" and laughing to myself.Just like first time i ever got high.I was astounded beyond belief.I think what you need is a good long break from it,like 3-6 months. When you return to it,the buzz would be unbelieveable i think......

Rather than search for a new strain, I would stop smoking entirely and give my system a chance to purge. That way I could come back and enjoy all the strains instead of a few. The experts say it takes about 6 weeks. My neighbor is in the same boat... he keeps hitting me up for smoke, but only wants my best stash. He's turned his nose up to 4 of my strains as well as super silver haze. When I suggested he take a break from smoking, his reply was "Hey, I quit for a week and it didn't help" lol. He will smoke an eigth in a day, but doesn't think he's got a problem.

If you've been a regular smoker for 40 years, maybe it's time??

Tolerance breaks are weird.

Earlier this summer I took just 3 days off, and I was more blazed when I started again than when I took an entire month off later in the summer.

weird.

I'm sure that the amount of time needed to break down a tolerance varies from person to person. I imagine since thc is stored up in fat cells that the more you have, the longer it stays in you.

I'd definitely take a break though dude. Chasing the dragon with cannabis is pretty bad. It's always better to quit for a little while out of choice than necessity anyway. At least you're not on probation ;)

I take breaks every now and then. About to start one here for a few weeks. A handle of wild turkey sees me through the first week and then it's smooth sailing off cape sober town.

Not having a ridiculous tolerance is necessary to enjoy cannabis from a "connoisseur" viewpoint, IMO. It sounds judgmental, and it is, but I have to roll my eyes at the people out there without a serious medical issue getting down on concentrates every day. Ya'll are missing out, I know.

i find if i only vaporize one vial two times per day, i can maintain a high. More than this, while fun (i love using my vape), isn't better.

concentrates and medibles

We have a winner :)

dnabud, Eat 1g of oil, preferably in milk or cakes. Wait 2 hours. Come back to thanks me for the answer to your problem ;)

Joke appart, I don't think cannabis tolerance build up during years. I would say it usually build in a couple of days. Try to stop smoking three days and weed will kick your ass again with just a few. Stop smoking 3 months or 5 years, it will pretty much kick your ass as much when you get back.... Just sayin'

Hey DNA, I'm in about the same boat as you, and I recently got my first curve HMK curve for oils and man....it is just the shot in the arm I needed. But as others have said, a break from smoking is about to be my only cure. These concentrates I've been using are very nice, very strong. And a few days ago, after a few dabs, I sat back and for the first time in ages is said to myself, "I might be too high!". But there was no giddiness, just the "I'm really, really stoned" feeling and didn't want to move. Good luck with you search.

you can take a break, but soon after that it will just be up again and you keep taking breaks(no experience with that tough, I've never had a tolerancebreak, had breaks but never for tolerance, but with another reason like a vacation in another country)

but if you just always keep the amount low, your tolerance never builds up that high again.(pun not intended)

similar to what budtoaster said above, I also find that I enjoy it best, also in the long run, to not keep vaping but keep it down. I don't have exact amounts tough
but for example 10 euros worth of weed(little over a gram, 1,2-1,3 or so with most strains) lasts me a little over a week, if it's a regular week. I do vape more on weekends, birthdays/parties etc, but because I keep it down otherwise I akso get higher on those ocassions.

I think lately my tolerance has risen a bit, keeps going in waves a bit, but overall if I compare now to when I just started smoking my tolerance has decreased a lot. (when I just started I smoked one way too fat joint every 30-40 minutes for one night a week, the amount that back then lasted me one night could now easily last me a week, probably 2-3 weeks)

I agree with all the above posts.

I gave up for more than two years and now have such a lovely time with the herb. I also have disciplined myself to smoke a lot less. I sometimes only have a smoke at the weekends and enjoy it so much more! The difference is really amazing. All the different types of weed and their flavors and highs are really noticeable. Love it.

A good healthy life style also helps a lot..

whenever I notice my tolerance building up, I just cut back the amount I smoke, so for a week, instead of smoking 4-5 times a day, I'll smoke once in the morning and once before bed.. The first couple of days you don't get too high, but afterwards it seems to last longer, and then by the end of the week, one to two hits off a bowl is all I need to be focused for a good hour.

Quitting for a week or 2 all together is also a good option, but for those of us who don't really want to quit, this works well for me.
