General hydro nutes vs Canna

we have been using canna nutes since we started growin 5years ago...after reading the 'receipe' on rez's site, decided to try GN nutes and the lucas formula..

growing in waterfarms... bought the 2 1/2gall size of bloom and micro, as well as a quart of 'grow'

well the girls have been in the farms for 10days now, and the plants are a 'pale' green... def should be a much darker shade of green... so we changed out the nutes and added 2ml per gallon of the grow, so i guess our formula is 2/6/9...

so far not happy with GN... maybe should have stayed with canna... we'll see...

5 years huh? 6/9 is for coco. Lucas in straight hydro is 8/16.

yep... 5 yrs and still a newbie.... actually all we ever did with canna is mix up the nutes, ph the water down to 5.5/5.6, add it the the res. depending on where we r in the grow in 2-5 days would add more nutes, or H2O, depening on the ppm's.. no cal/mag..no nuthin... and the plants would grow like...well weeds:):)...

we did bump up the GN mixture to 8/16... and also adding 2ml of GN 'grow', to try n get em greened up... did that 2 1/2 days ago, and it looks like it is helpin..

interestingly enough, at 6/9, our nutrawand was registering ppms at around 450, which was the same ppms we always grew with canna...

thanks for reply...

hi,
ghe 3 part in waterfarm, this could help (very basics).
grow: 2 parts G / 1 part M / 1 part B
bloom: 1 part G / 1 part M / 2 parts B
you could try this until your plants look nice and than continue with lukas formula.

peace

Maybe I'm confused by your post but; 6/9 is not the Lucas formula. 8/16 is. And it can be used in any medium be it soil, coco or Hydro. I've used it in Waterfarms and coco with outstanding results.
The standard 3/2/1(veg) and 1/2/3(flower formulas always produce great results. I mention that since you already have the Gro.

Truth be told, any quality nutrient system applied properly will yield excellent results.
Apply properly, flush adequately, cure correctly . Your advice approaches trash more than any weed grown with either product.

This. It really doesn't matter what base nutrient you use, it's all the same stuff, just how fancy of a bottle/marketing are you willing to pay for. It's all about using them in the correct ratios to hit your target elemental ppm numbers. Once those are in line, the plants take care of themselves.

Also, environment, environment, environment.

:good:
It took me several years to finally realize this.

A year ago I switched from gh to canna. At the same time I went from rockwool to coco, and went with the blumat drippers. My results are amazing! Canna makes things dead simple. Though I often wonder if the nutes are really what made a difference or not.

At some point I may try gh again, but when i do I think I will try maxibloom. It's really hard to switch nutes because what I have going now brings no issues, except the cost. Also,if I liked maxibloom, I would just buy a huge bag of it. I would never have to buy nutes for maybe a few years at a time. I like the idea of that.

Though, right now my plants never show any deficientcy ever. They are dark green SHINY leaves from clone until flush. It's hard to change when it took so long to get things dialed.

Herborizer like they say if it ain't broken don't fix it.... stick to what's working for you. Instead of switching completely over to maxibloom do a side by side test and compare results.

GH.

let canna and H&G play there games.... GH is in every hydro store.

also, it's never the product, always the user. cannabis tolerates many varying levels, as seen by every formula being different.. I am not talking about efficiency here.. just use-a-bility

as everyone said, you screwed the numbers.. adding to little K in your hydro, maybe a little low Mg also..
