Metals Removal: Iron, manganese, silver, and zinc may be removed to varying degrees in a single pass system.
Iron, copper, and manganese can be reduced by 99 percent, while zinc and silver will be reduced by approximately 60-70 percent.

Its used in industry to clean up outfall water or for recycling , useing a lot in a res could cause a depletion in available trace elements.

Have never added peroxide or ozone to a nutrient loaded resevoir but many people do , basic chemistry would advise against.

Very interesting thread... I use 8 X 50 gallon Reservoirs that are constantly recirculating, I change out the water almost weekly, how long would you recommend I use one of these machines? And I would use this machine BEFORE adding nutes correct?

So, the final word is that a airstone connect to a ozone generator bubbling ur tank for a while before you add ur nutes would desinfect ur water AND remove all chlorine/chloramine shit??

thanks

I fill my res with a hose from the tap and it has an aquarium pump bubbling it.

The water company says they absolutely use chlomine and it is in my water.

If chloramines cause problems with the growth of the plant then it's not a visible one that I can see or understand.

So what damage are we actually talking about?

IS it more a problem in hydro than organic soil?

Been very curious about this for a long time.

For that matter I have 100 species of tropical and hardy plants in containers in the same mix I grow ganja in and they show no signs of illness or deficiency either.

Thanks

I also use tap and can not see any health issues caused by it's use in soilless medium.

Chlorine and chloramines can and will kill microbes, so if you're trying to work with them, are spending money on stuff like Great White to inoculate the medium, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you don't dechlorinate.

Chlorine dissipates so readily into the atmosphere that it's likely much less of a concern where microbes are being cultured, even less if it's just being used to occasionally water plants. But daily or more often use of that water might cause a problem (I don't know, I've never done that with chlorinated water).

Fish people do not use ozone in the manner described above, too many of us are too familiar with shit like fires caused by O3 generators. Not even public aquariums use it for that purpose, even if they're using O3 for sterilization. Be careful using these generators, they are dangerous, can cause fires and possibly health issues.

I had a 90g custom cube reef tank. The ecosystem in a reef tank is extremely sensitive. I used a RO/DI unit for that.....

you need the di resin as the chloramine removal creates ammonia

I go with a full RO/DI unit because our water is just that hard. The effluent is still much cleaner and softer than what comes out of the well. That's a good unit.
