Doh! Man stops to pet K-9 with pot in pocket

If you have marijuana in your pocket, it's not a good idea to pet a patrolling police dog.
The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin reports that 48-year-old Kelly Simpson was busted Wednesday after he stopped to pet K-9 Tarah, who was on foot patrol with her handler in Endicott.
Police say Tarah smelled marijuana and alerted the officer.
Simpson was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and released on an appearance ticket.

Just goes to dispute the theory that dog is man's best friend. Not so in Kelly Simpson's case. Doh.................

Sounds like an old friend of mine. Dumb ass moves were his forte. He forgot to go to court for a traffic violation. When he learned he'd be arrested he turned himself in. Only after his booking commenced did he realize he'd be searched and given jail duds. He asked the booker if he could go to the john. The booker acknowledged but said he'd have to search my friend, first. So a minor traffic violation was expanded to failure to appear and simple possession.

that dog was just doing its job....

doing its job for HER best friend.... the police officer!

fuck, if I were a dog, and i was given a treat everytime i located drugs, i would be on a constant hunt for drugs..... ya cant blame her!

:tiphat:

the dummy with the weed will probably never try and pet a police dog while he has a bag of weed on him!

.....as an aside:

when my wife was in highschool, the local police department had set up a little show in which every student gathered in the school gymnasium. While in the gymnasium, the police had brought in their k-9 and the k-9 officer to do a little show for the kids. First off, let me give you the back story of my wife. Her father had passed away of a horrible death which was made public when it happened, so this traumatic event had caused her to become somewhat of an outcast amongst the rest of the students who had caught wind of his death and did not know how to interact with her because of it. Furthermore, she was, and still is, a plain-jane, publicly shy/timid girl, who stuck to herself in her uniform-required catholic highschool and never really focused on having friends or being cool, but instead spent her time studying, learning, and achieving the best possible grades that she could...when she was not physically in school for the day, she was smoking herb with her older brother. She had developed a love for the herb at the tender age of 13, and NOBODY had a CLUE, nor would EVER suspect that she had smoked more cannabis then the stereotypical guy with dreads. Before and after school she would be sure to smoke up. To this day, if any of her classmates had found out that they she was the biggest pothead on campus, they would drop dead of heart attacks ON THE SPOT... no joke....

ANYWAYS.....

She had forgotten to leave her pipe and nugs in her car this day, and instead had them stuffed in her purse (which she had on her at the time of this demonstration). While sitting in the first row, by herself, the k9's handler had instructed the dog to find the toy.....................the dog ran immediately to my girlfriend, and my girlfriend started screaming and crying and ran into a room that was right by her...........she told me that the gymnasium erupted in laughter and confusion as she ran and hid..... the officer and her teachers ran into the room and expressed their sorrow for the dog running to her.... they explained how sorry they were.......and NEVER even thought about searching her.....

now is that some fucked up shit or what?!?!?

the dude was probably stoned and happy and felt like petting the damn dog and forgot about the pot!

FUCK that cop for being a dick and fucking with the guy who was showing compassion. I hate punk cops. Some cops are alright, and have compassion, but those guys are rare....its the young punk cops who are looking to prove something to their supervisors who are the ones you need to look out for...it also has a lot to do with the city you are fucking around in....some cops are busier then others. some cops have seen more then others and therefore know when to let shit slide and when to punish....all in all, my boy E Z E said it best....... FUCK DA PO LEECE!

IF YOU AIN'T CALL DEM, THEY SURE AIN'T THERE TO HELP YOU!

what the fuck? It's a crime to have weed on you in New York? Thought anything under an ounce was decriminalized. Might be that NYC has different/fucked up laws. I know they have a really fucked up gun law...like only 3 people in Manhattan are licensed to have a firearm. But there's like 500,000 guns on the street in NYC.

hmmm

really ? I would have thought that it's not a liable cause to search

he could have said that he had dogs at home

I am surprised to see police can walk their k9s on the street and search you

when I read the name Kelly I thought it was a woman at first

i am with longearedfriend on this one too. this story is fishy. police don't allow people to pet their k-9 partners when they are working. also the dogs must be commanded to alert. they simply don't walk around constantly smelling for drugs they must be directed to do so. perhaps this is a propaganda piece by the police or someone really left out some key details in this story.

I trained dogs long ago in my life and they do not have to be commanded to alert on something. You may be thinking of tracker dogs. Drug dogs, cadaver dogs, chemical dogs et. al. are always on alert and communicating with their masters. They want those treats, damnit!
