coco or coco not ?

I was in my local hydro shop today, to pick up some coco and the salesman
told me about a product called coco not . it's made from redwood chips from
northern California, he went on to say he had done a side by side grow between
coco and coco not and that the coco not had out performed it in every way, from
over all ease of use to better drainage, he also claimed the plants were bigger
and more lush than the ones in coco .
now I took into consideration the fact that he is a salesman, but his enthusiasm
for this product seemed genuine, what I'm wondering is, has anyone else tried
this product and with what results , I have to admit I like the idea of purchasing a
product made here in America vs imported, but as usual I'm a little sceptical of
a product I know nothing about. all opinions welcome good or bad !

Dongle69 tried it as a coco replacement and hated it, she went back to coco. She was a goddess amongst growers, so I'll take her word for it.

personally i'd stick with the coco, it's tried and tested. have never seen a cannabis plant growing in coco not, specially not ready to harvest plants, which is what counts.

thats what i thought :)

the thing is if the wood ferments or rots, wich it wil ldo after soaking and nutes and such, it will start taking up N from the plant roots.

this is NR 1 reason not to ever use sawdust in convencional gardening for mulch...

and NICE to see you back mate, Krunchbubble, ur grows are breathtaking to follow! :)

I have to disagree with most of you, plus, some of you are knocking it without even knowing anything about it or trying it like usual.

COCONOT is a great medium that I've tested and it works really well. It has outperformed regular coco, soil ,and rockwool so far and I've never had ph problems with it unlike other mediums.

It is made from "Sustainably Harvested" redwood trees so no old growth is cut down in the making of it.
It is ph buffered to 5.5 which makes it great for our use.
It doesn't require a Cal/Mag supplement to be used since it doesn't lock it out like COCO does.
Always retains at least 30% air content.
Drys out quicker, which means more feedings, which translates to happier plants.
Doesn't grow algae and mold as easily as other mediums.

I sell it at my shop all day long and have only had one guy complain about it, but he hadn't even tried it yet, he just got cold feet cause he read people online dissing it. All I got to say is, don't knock it till you try it! :D

I am on my first run with cocoNOT and LOVE IT!

It's not sawdust,

it is sustainably harvested shredded redwood BARK, not the wood
and it is mixed with the hulls or bark of another tree as well, NOT pure redwood.

Love the shit, straight outta the bag, no perlite like i mixed with my soils, cannabis loves this stuff. straight up
