upgrading equipment - need recommendations

Just got my Med card and I'm now, officially legal. What a great feeling i gotta say. Anyway I'm upgrading my stuff and need some input. Currently I'm running a digital 600 with an easy cool 6 in a Dr120 with a 424cfm 6" vortex.

Ultimately I'm going to get another tent, a 4x8 and want to run two 1k's.

I'm buying a 1k now to run for a grow or two in my dr120 before getting another 1k and the 4x8 tent.

Several questions and one statement :

Questions :

1) is anyone getting away with cooling two 1k's with 6" ducting?? Ild like to stay with 6" ducting if possible.

2) on that note... is a 424cfm 6"fan going to be able to handle it? Two 1k?

3) I need reflector recommendations.... I really would like to buy reflectors that DONT have the bulb socket in the mouth of the flange... it really seems to inhibit flow. Anyone know of any affordable reflectors That are like this?

Thanks for the insight. lol. I'm cooling 3 600s with a 6" Vortex, but I'd like to go to an 8". You can cool 2 1000s with a 6", but an 8" will cool them more. This matters in the summer when you're cooling with hot air, even at night. Good luck. -granger

One 6" fan should be fine for two (2) 1k'ers.

Thanks guys. Im thinking about going with a 5x10 instead. With two 1k ill be at 42w / sqft since the tent isn't right at 5x10. Otherwise I'm looking at 66w sqft!


I should be fine at 42 don't ya think? The extra room would come in handy.

Also.... do you think that fan would be enough to cool the two 1k AND pull through a scrubber? As mentioned, its a 424cfm 6" vortex type.

As for the xxxl reflector ...I heard some people say it spreads the light to much ...but others seem to like it. It seems to fit what I'm looking for...especially if I end up going with a 5x10.

I have 3 cooltubes inline all pushed by a 6" 465cfm on top of a scrubber and even with a few tweeky bends it cools all 3 pretty well.No amount of air will reduce your lightburn footprint but more air sure doesn't hurt.I have one cooltube setup with the same fan all by itself and the results under the lamp are the same.The single is a 600W HPS and I was going to put 1000 in there but I knew, even with all that air the canopy was too close already and the 1000 would demo the tops.Sounds like a great weed producing setup, 2, 1000W lamps inline=lots of great pot.Enjoy it.

I prefer the raptor with an 8" fan. Nice footprint buds can touch the glass or b 3' below..When in doubt with coolin I go for more is better...
