Building an app is easier than not being silly enough to put illegal shit on your phone?!

Come on guys, a little common sense goes a loooong way :D

the iphone has a passcode lock that enables as soon as you hit the lock button. obviously cops can't get into the phone if they don't know the code. the erase feature on the iphone can be turned on and activates if the passcode is entered wrong after the 10th or so time.

obviously? They don't need to even try to crack it! They just plug it in their UFED. For example...

The device used by the Michigan State Police is a portable forensic system called the Cellebrite UFED that can suck data from a variety of devices, including multiple Android phones and Apple iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad. The company did not immediately return phone calls, but according to Cellebrite's product description, the UFED can grab email, Web bookmarks, Web history, SIM data, cookies, notes, MMS, instant messages, Bluetooth devices, locations, journeys, GPS fixes, call logs, text messages, contacts and more

oh and the more in ", contacts and more" means deleted data

If you installed a strong enough magnet under the seat that might work to wipe it. Not sure though. Maybe someone with more tech experience can chime in with a lo-fi technique to wipe a phone.

I wonder if a person could load all the names and numbers on the sim and make some form of device that would allow you to yank the sim card out and destroy it somehow. Maybe a wire loop attached to it and then bend it up or chew it up or something...have it out side the case so you could just pop the cover and remove the battery and yank it out...then just throw the phone in the crack by the seat and tell then something .. oh that old thing, it doesn't work anymore...

this will get challenged and over ruled. its basically the same as if you get a knock and talk and the cop demands to dig through your personal filing cabinet without a warrant

if your so worried about it just go buy a cheap ass prepaid. they dont require ID. you can pay for it in cash. and use a alias. any lawyer with half a brain will be able to get any charges or warrants dropped or thrown out if they were obtained with evidence from a prepaid and cant show definitive proof that it is your phone...

some of you are over thinking this. you can even get your high tech gizmo smart phone and have it put on a prepaid. personally i like my $20 phone. nothing fancy but it keeps a charge for 2 weeks and if i feel its putting me in harms way ill just throw the fucker in the toilet.

Lost my iphone in the backseat of a cab. Called the cab company and thought I was getting the runaround, so I gave the remote command to wipe it.

Few weeks later they found the phone in the cushion of the cab and they remembered me, recognized the wallpaper that I'd described, and FedExed my phone back - at my expense. I turned on the phone at my office, it logged onto the wireless network, and immediately wiped itself. D'oh!

So, you should just know that the iphone remote wipe apparently doesn't work over 3G. It requires a Wi-Fi connection.

Impounding a car is not the same as a routine traffic stop. You do lose a lot of rights once they decide to impound you. This is fucked up.

I have people in my life that I have completely cut off from everything because they would not follow one single simple instruction.... Do not text me ANYTHING that can be used against me. I have one woman that I had told that to so many times. About two weeks ago I sent her a message telling her to never call or text me again for any reason. Do not ever contact me again for anything. I was very rude and abusive to her on her voice mail. I didn't say why not to call me, I just called her a bunch of very mean names and said to never call me again or I will do something that would destroy her. You know what she does? She calls and textd me over and over asking why, and when I didn't answer her she become abusive to me. I had to end up blocking her and she started calling from a different phone. The Point is, I do not want any text on my phone that can be used against me in a court of law. I tried to get that point across in a civil manner, but she is so stupid she didn't even hear me. She probably still don't know why she is cut off.

Do Not take pictures, make, or accept text on your phone that can be used against you. If you take a picture send it somewhere else (email or whatever) immediately and delete it. There is still a record of it, but the cops will need more than just a passing glance to see it.
