New screen for pipe falls out - any tricks?

I have a pipe with a metal bowl and screen and whenever I clean it properly the screen won't stay in because the bowl's sides are smooth and the resin is gone.

As I smoke more and more the resin builds up and it stays in place.

Is there any trick to avoiding this problem?

one of my bowls is like that, I use a slightly over-size screen and even though it's a pain in the ass and falls out constantly. I pretend it's a feature/benefit of my bowl.
"See how easy it is to remove the screen to clean it?"
makes me feel better.

Either take screen and make a "bowl" out of it using your fingers to round it out or buy a glass jack/screen. Most headshops sell glass jacks for a dollar a piece.

Keep it green.

Take the tip of an ink pen or some needle nose pliers and push the center of the screen down to make it more of a bowl shape. I know exactly what you're talking about it only happens with brand new screens. I usually just use the pen or pliers and gently push the center in on the screen until it stays in the bowl without flying out and spilling your herb everywhere.

trichomefarmer showed me years ago how to take care of this problem. you take 2 crumbs of the bubble your about to hit and use them to stick the screen in. right on the edge so it gets warm and holds the screen till it's firmly welded in after a few hits.

this is fine till you have too much pressure on it and the screen get flicked out,.....hit and all...:kos:

my bowl is bit smaller than the screen, so i push in the center of the screen, making that bowl. then it fits with a bit of push and doesnt jump out unwanted.

just take the dam screen and fold in half.... then in half again....then insert in to the bowl
...then push further and insert PART way into the stem of the bowl and the elbow.....
will work just as well
when needed....just take sum kelly clamps and pull out ...burn off the resin and reinsert

Cut screen from side to the center and make little cone shape you require..
this should work if the lil bugger wont stay put!!

I would cut the screen with scissors so it just barely covers the hole. Then pack it, and the resin should have made it stay in place.

Dude get a glass bowl or a bong.

not only is it what i was going to suggest but its exactly what i do as well.

my metal bowls i normally just let get dirty so the screen stays in there, but god knows when was the last time i used a metal bowl.

straight glass for me from now on, but you'll still get the same issue with certain shaped bowls so the premise is the same. after a while you start to taste that metal even wood tis why i just keep it glass, and alcohol becomes your best friend.

I dont even see a problem here. If the screen falls out when you clean it that's fine. I take my screens out when cleaning. When the pipe is clean and you reinsert the screen it's going to be lose. When you first bought the pipe you should have had the same issue?

If the bowl has threads on it they make caps that screw on. As long as you dont turn the pipe upside down your fine. It will finally stay in place until the next time you clean it.

glass screens like mentioned. Just make sure you have a designated spot for them when not in use, cause you will lose em, they are tiny.
